Here are some exercises that will help you increase your reflection and personal awareness, in turn arming you with stories, topics and questions to use confidently throughout your day.
- Put pen to paper and write down the three things you appreciate in five words or less every day for two weeks. The simplicity will challenge you to look for the core elements instead of dry data in addition to making it an easy commitment.
- Think of three people that have made an impression upon you this year. What was the impact that you felt and the words you would use to describe your feelings for them? With the next opportunity share with them the impact they have had on you. Don't worry about their reactions and savor the feeling of empowerment brought on by your bravery.
- The next time you are at a party, out with friends, or meeting someone one-on-one get curious and inquire about the things that they are most appreciative of. Asking what people are thankful for opens up the conversation and allows you to get a sense of their personality. Keep the connection going by sharing your own stories of gratitude.
