FC Barcelona Successful Season Review 2010-2011

FC Barcelona started their 2010-11 season with the threat of the special one, Jose Mourinho as he eliminated Barcelona last year from Champions League Semi Final by his unprecedented tactics. But Barca have proved their superlative class once again by winning the Double–La Liga Crown–three times in a row with two games to spare and the big Champions League Crown–twice in three years by teaching their opponent a real good football lesson. Moreover, Barca made a spectacular record of 28 matches unbeaten and 16 consecutive league wins in 2010-2011 La Liga season. Barca is now all about»Dream Team.»

La Liga

Barca was dramatically beaten 2-0 at the Camp Nou in their second match against new comer Hercules CF! It was a shock not a fact Barca proved it in their following games. They managed to win the 3rd straight La Liga Crown with two games to spare.

Series of «El Clasicos»

Five «El Clasico» in a season and four of them took place in April-May only in time range of 18 days. In recent history only in 2001-02 both Giants met four times in a season and before that when they clashed more or as equal as this season I really don’t remember.

The 1st«El Clasico» of the season took place on 29th of November. New coach of Madrid, their outstanding performance in the league before this match, tiredness of Spanish players after the world cup etc was major issues before the game. But as soon as the referee whistled to start the battle it was again the beauty of football drawn by none other than Barca players. Barca gave their fans an unforgettable, Five Star performance a 5-0 win against their eternal rival at the Camp Nou on the 111th birthday of the best club in the world. Barca tops the table, 8 points ahead of Madrid with this win and the leading position was as stable as the Everest till the end of the season.

The 2nd«El Clasico» was a 1-1 draw at Santiago Bernabeu while both Messi for the first time scored against Mourinho so did Ronaldo against Barcelona after his arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu. After the match Barca was also eight points ahead of Madrid.

The 3rd«El Clasico» was in «Copa Del Ray Final» so it was a big match for both of them. Mourinho stuck to his super defensive strategy and finally he got a win and a trophy while Ronaldo scored in 102th minutes at Mestalla. Barca possessed 70% of the first half but no real effort before the goal post took place. Barca improved second half, they created chances but all went in vein and it was 0-0 after the 90 minutes. Then Ronaldo scored in 102th minute and this was the decider as Barca failed to score but they kept pushing.

The 4th «El Clasico» was in the much awaited Champions League Semi Final. First leg one was at Santiago Bernabeu. Mourinho criticized Pep Guardiola harshly when Guardiola commented on disqualifying a goal during the Copa Del Rey Final. Right after Mourinho left the press conference Guardiola replied it fast and furiously like never before as he used the «F word.» This incident added an extra spice before the battle. At the battle field we saw the reflection of Guardiola’s anger while Barca players were rushing all together towards the referee as soon as any foul committed by any Madrid player. Barcelona were playing their natural attacking game and Madrid were stuck to their defensive plan. It was 0-0 after the half time. When two teams headed to the dressing room Pinto extra goal keeper of Barca got a red card and there was a clash between the some players of both team. On the hour mark Pepe committed a foul against Dani Alves and the referee booked him a straight red card–Barca’s plan did work. But from the replay we could easily saw that it was master piece acting from Dani Alves. Mourinho also got a red card when he gave an illegal gesture to the referee. Then Barca took the advantage of 10 men and Messi scored 76th minute and he doubled it by a pure magic in 87th minute and the later was undoubtedly one of the best goals of Champions League history. After full time it was a huge advantage of 2-0 and Barca was almost through to the final.

The 5th «El Clasico» was a cruel formality as it was like more than impossible to keep Barca away from Wembley when they had 2-0 away goal advantage. It was 1-1 draw at Camp Nou. Barca scored first and Madrid equalized. Mourinho was not even in the gallery during the match. Barca was off to Wembly.

Champions League

It would be an injustice to Barca if I don’t mention the game against Arsenal. Cesc Fabregas once again played for the losing side. Arsenal had 2-1 home advantage but they failed to utilize it at the Camp Nou where they were humiliated last year by 4-1and all goals scored by the little Argentine wizard Messi. This year Messi once again made the difference, his first goal showed the world that his skill is limitless. Arsenal made an incredible record breaking the record of more than one thousand matches in the Champions League. In this match they were unable to take a single shot in the target! The score line was 3-1 and the sole goal was an own goal scored by Sergio Busquets.

Champions League Final–Obviously it is considered to be the biggest match of a season. Barca players labeled the match as their last Champions League Final of their life as Guardiola did so back in 1992 at Wembley where Barca had won their first ever Champions League Final Trophy. Sir Alex Ferguson labeled it as the «Final of the Decade.» Some said it would be «Dj vu» of 2008-09 season others said ManU got better. When the match begun first ten minutes ManU gave Barca a real good challenge but then it was again the beauty of Football at his supreme level, Manu became the bus stander once again. The game ended 3-1 and it could have been worse a lot. The game is now considered the best ever Champions League Final in terms of the class of Football by any team.

Finally, It was another successful mission of FC Barcelona. They got the Double and created few team and individual records in this season. They are now the very close to the «Dream Team» while some people have already expressed that they are the»Dream Team» or better than that! But one thing is for sure that Lionel Messi is getting closer and closer to stop repeating the question «Who is the best player of all time Pele or Maradona?»

Developing Aggression in Youth Football Players, the Splatter Tackling Drill

Splatter Tackling Drills

We are huge fans of splatter tackling and splatter tackling drills when you are coaching youth football. These drills are great ways to ease your kids into full contact. We think it is imperative to prefect blocking and tackling technique at the youth level. Too many youth football coaches just don’t spend enough time or demand the perfection of detail that makes kids great blockers and tacklers.

Ruining the Potential of Good Kids

Despite what many youth coaches think, most kids aren’t born to be great blockers and tacklers, they are made. Unfortunately there are a bunch of kids out there that have the potential to be very good football players that are ruined by their youth football coach. These coaches rush kids into contact before they have perfected perfect blocking and tackling technique with their players WITHOUT contact. Too many kids get rushed into full speed blocking and tackling in space well before they are ready for it. That’s a coaching problem, not a kid problem. Coach is too busy trying to quickly see who is studs are, before giving his average and weaker kids a chance to develop the skills and confidence to be able to survive and compete in a full speed tackling or blocking drill in space.

Splatter Drills

In our book «Winning Youth Football a Step-by- Step Plan», we detail exactly how you can do it. One of the key steps is using «Splatter» drills. The Splatter Drill lets a player learn how to accelerate through contact without experiencing the consequence of a reciprocal blow. This drill also allows the player to take another player to the ground without a hard ground impact. This drill can also help you drill the correct landmarks for feet placement, head placement and hip roll.

For the player playing the role of the «patsy», the player providing zero resistance to the block or tackle and is getting slammed into a soft landing matt on every rep, the job doesn’t sound like much fun. But what I’m hearing from coaches all across the country is that their kids love to be the one holding the shield and getting slammed onto the landing pad every play. I thought our kids were weird, they all want to play the pasty, but I guess everyones kids are as odd as mine.

Problems With Splatter Drills

One of the things that always bothered me about this drill was the fact you need to have 4 long dummys to use as landing pads. Well at about $100 each, that is $400, out of the reach of many youth programs. Lugging these dummies around is a big hassle as well. Then once on the field, you have just one landing pad for 25 kids. As most of you know I’m not a fan of having kids standing in long lines, so that means whenever we do splatter drills. It is only part of a circuit, it is never a drill we want to do on it’s own, even if we need it.

The Solution, Tony Holland to the Rescue

My good friend Tony Holland from Maryland solved this one. He went to Walmart and bought several camping air mattresses for $65 each. Each mattress is big enough to be a landing pad all by itself. These things roll up into a small box too, so you don’t need a pickup to lug them around. Tony bought a small electric air compressor for $20 that not only inflates each mattress in less than 2 minutes, it also sucks the air out as well when you are finished. Tony has several of these mattresses so his kids can all do Splatter Drills at the same time and in much smaller groups. He didn’t have to repair a single leak and he said all of his are good to go for next season.

Dubai Palm Island Property Investment

Dubai's reputation as a property hot spot has been secure for the last six years with the construction boom to match, fueled by an increase in tourism in the south of Asia and investment in overseas property in Dubai boasting some of the most ambitious projects including the famous Dubai Palm Island the self declared 'eighth wonder of the world.' Prospective owners of property on the Palm Island are buying a unique piece of history as well as a holiday home.

The Palm Islands (Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali and Palm Deira) will add a total of 520 kilometers to the shoreline which nearly doubles this lucrative area for Dubai. The Palm Jumeirah alone boasts 30 beach front hotels due to open by the end of 2009. The available property will include three main types of property including canal cove town homes, signature villas and garden homes which will be complemented by a series of community bars, cafes, retail outlets, sports and spa facilities.

The finished development is set to dazzle and amaze prospective owners almost as much as the construction itself, and it will employ 40,000 workers, most of them from south Asia itself which has no doubt had a positive impact on the local population. The island was created using sand to build up the area before construction, a mega 95 million cubic meters of sand and 7 million tons of rock. Dubai's national import of cement increased by over 70% during 2007 to accommodate the construction of the world's largest cement canals as part of the Palm Island project.

A development of this size is not without it's environmental impact, the relocation of much wildlife in the artificial reef's off the Palm Jumeirah has maintained the local ecosystem as well as encouraging new marine life within the area giving property owners much of the original natural wildlife attractions of the Dubai coastline. Unfortunately the impact of the continuous barrier surrounding the Palm has disturbed the natural flow of tidal waves causing the water within the Palm to become stagnated measures have been taken to create movement and oxygenation within the Palm have been taken.

The Palm Island Project itself has run into many unforeseen situations such as the breakwater displacing the tidal flow, this is one of the things blamed for the ongoing setbacks in construction and seems to be around two years later than planned. Another main factor has been the increase in the number of properties on each of the Island. The original plans have doubled in the number of individual properties available, which has lead to fears that construction will be damaged by the increase in use especially at the entry and exit points. The decrease in individual property living space will undoubtedly have an effect on any resale value, of property on the Palm Island and investors who bought from the original plans have never been compensated for the increase in properties available but even with this set back any long term investment made on Palm Island will give a sound return due to its unique and extravagant location.

Is Safe Dieting Really Safe With the Use of Diet Pills?

It is not uncommon for many of us to begin a diet program without conferring with a dietitian or physician discussing the desired outcome and planning the necessary steps to reach the goal. The school of thought is that any diet program that will help shed pounds is a good one. However, the wrong plan can end up causing more harm than good. According to some recent studies, dieters who take on a particular plan or decide to take non-prescription diet pills that may not be a good match for them run the risk of suffering complications. In order to avoid these types of problems, it is important to be cautious when deciding on a weight loss program, or deciding whether or not to take diet pills.

Always try to consult a physician or licensed dietitian before starting any weight loss program. And rather than using over the counter diet pills, it is much better to use prescription pills under the direction of your physician. Remember, the aim with any weight loss plan should include improved health. Whenever you begin a diet, remember to keep the goal of a healthy body in mind in order to avoid serious problems down the road.

Why Are Prescription Diet Pills Different?

It is important to understand that prescription pills, unlike those purchased over-the-counter, are regulated medications that require a physician’s prescription. There are strict regulations on dispensing these drugs, and medical professionals may only prescribe diet drugs under specific conditions and when the patient’s life is not threatened. These pills are prescribed only when the dieter meets specific criteria. Some prescription diet pills can interfere with or even reduce the efficacy of other medications, and the physician needs to determine if the medications the dieter is currently taking can be sabotaged by adding diet medications.

Safety and Efficacy

Before they can be FDA approved, prescription diet pills go through intensive laboratory testing programs to be sure they are safe when taken as directed. Because of this thorough testing procedures and research, these drugs have been found to be effective when combined with a sensible diet and moderate exercise.

Many dieters have had excellent results using these pills together with a proper diet and exercise over a predetermined period of time. Still, like all medications available today, they can cause side effects in some people, which makes supervision from your physician that much more important.

Early Breast Cancer Detection

Most women are familiar with mammography as our «gold standard» for breast cancer screening. However, there are additional tools available that women can add to their arsenal.

One of the most effective tools in breast cancer screening is breast self-exam (BSE). However, BSE works best when women are appropriately trained in the procedure, and then followed-up with annual clinical breast exams (CBE) from their physicians. In a 2000 University of Toronto study, approximately 20,000 women were screened for breast cancer with BSE and annual CBE, and 20,000 were screened with BSE and mammograms. After more than 10 years, the BSE and annual CBE reported 610 cases of invasive breast cancer, and 105 deaths. In the BSE and mammogram group, there were 622 cases of invasive breast cancer and 107 deaths. Without question, the first line of defense against breast cancer begins with diligent BSE.

Other tools that are available to women include the AMAS (anti-malignan antibody screen) test and the NMP Nuclear matrix protein) test. Both these are blood tests that measure a certain protein in the blood that may indicate cancer. The AMAS test has been around for several years while the NMP test has not been available until only recently. Clinical trials continue in this area.

One additional tool that may detect an issue early is digital infrared thermal imaging or DITI. In 1982, the FDA approved thermography as an adjunctive tool for breast cancer screening. DITI measures heat emitted from the body and is accurate to 1/100th of a degree. DITI examines physiology, NOT structure. It is in this capacity that DITI can monitor breast HEALTH over time and alert a patient or physician to a developing problem; possibly before a lump can be seen on X-ray or palpated clinically. There are no test limitations such as breast density. DITI is a non-invasive test that does not emit radiation.

The unique characteristics of cancer allow DITI to detect breast cancer at an earlier stage of growth. As cancer is developing, it builds its own blood supply which is then reflected as increased heat in that particular region of the breast. DITI has a specificity of 83%; which reflects a problem in its early stages of development not late-stage cancer as in mammography. An abnormal thermogram carries a 10-times greater risk for cancer and a persistently abnormal thermogram carries a 22-times greater risk for cancer.

Clinical research studies continue to support thermography’s role as an adjunctive tool in breast cancer screening and the ONLY tool that measures breast health over time. There are now more than 800 publications on over 300,000 women in clinical trials. A recent finding published in the American Journal of Radiology in 2003 showed that thermography has 99% sensitivity in identifying breast cancer with single examinations and limited views. Scientists concluded that a negative thermogram is powerful evidence that cancer is not present.

Thermographic screening is not covered by most insurance companies but is surprisingly affordable for most people. For more information or to find a certified clinic in your area, go to [http://www.proactivehealthonline.com].

Buying Bowling Equipment

You can walk into almost any bowling alley today and find a pro shop ready to sell you any type of equipment that you may need to take your game to the next level. My writing about the bowling industry has taken a bit of a turn towards the increasing cost to participate in the sport. One of the biggest costs that the avid bowler faces is the cost of bowling equipment.

The state of the game today, much like in many sports, has been greatly affected by technology. If you do not have the best equipment, you are at a disadvantage to your competition. This comes with a cost. It is not uncommon for bowling balls to cost over $ 200. Most avid bowlers have 3 or more bowling balls in their arsenal. A bowling bag for three bowling balls can cost you over $ 100, and top of the line shoes are in the triple digits as well. With these three essentials in bowling, you are looking at an $ 800 investment.

There are some ways that you can cut costs. Of course, there are some lower performance bowling balls that you can purchase. It is suggested that you speak with a coach or pro shop operator who might be able to analyze your game to determine the best way to select your arsenal.

In my opinion, buy everything off the internet, except for new bowling balls. You can buy the bowling ball off the internet as well, but the reason I don't is twofold. First, when you receive the bowling ball in the mail, you still have to go get it drilled. From what I have seen, this usually costs around $ 50. So, by the time you have paid for the ball online, shipping, and drilling, you can probably get it cheaper from the pro shop. It can cost more with inserts, thumb slugs, etc. Second, you can buy the bowling ball off the internet and have them drill it, but unless you are extremely knowledgeable about how to layout equipment. Me personally, I'm just very picky about my equipment and want to be there while it's being drilled.

Another great way to find some of this equipment at a reasonable cost is through Craigslist. Beware, any searches I have attempted usually come back with a majority of the stuff that has been in someone's attic since the 1970's, but you may find a diamond in the rough once in a while.

Buying new bowling equipment is one of my favorite things. I hope these ideals help you save as much money as they have for me, which allows me to buy even more new equipment!

Diets and Their Issues

What does the word diet mean? According to the oxford dictionary the word diet means the kind of food people eat. This can clearly be the case because according to the company Boots there are over 100 many types of diets, from the alkaline diet, to the zone diet. There are a vast majority of them, with their benefits and their downfalls. However are these diets successful? Are they long term? Do we lose weight on them?

As we all approach the festive season, and the New Year, people at this time are looking at what foods they want to cut down on, or what new fad diet they would like to try. But overall will these work in the long term?

According to the magazine psychology today, researchers tested this methodology on various clients, it was found that there were other aspects to health, not just dieting, and weight loss, but also reduced blood pressure and cholesterol. The clients did not lose weight, however they had a positive attitude about themselves. In that respect diets can be a positive awareness, or on the other end of the spectrum diets can be seen as negative. For example a study carried out by Leicester City Council concluded that due to a poor diet they were unable to achieve the healthier diet that is recommended by the health professionals. A poor diet can mean lack of essential vitamins and minerals. Lack of vitamins and minerals can cause an array of problems. From feeling tired, to poor vision at night time, dry skin, fatigue, and soft bones. In relation to the popular diets out there each of the diets have problems if they are not followed properly, or not researched for suitability.

The Dr Dukan diet was set up by Pierre Dukan in 2000. His aims and objectives were:

To increase a higher intake of protein.

To have a no limit of calories or the types of food you can eat, therefore people can eat whatever and whenever.

However there are some known issues of this diet, this includes:

The cost of purchasing the higher protein foods, i.e. meat, chicken, pork, nuts and seeds

The suitability for people on a restrictive diet for example, vegetarians or gluten free clients.

However there are some positives of this particular diet, one of them is that it is high in protein, which is important for the growth of new cells in the body, this can include hair, skin and nails. Another feature is that there is no limit of the amount of calories or types of food you can eat. Finally there is a limit on the amount of foods high in sugar, as excess sugar can lead to weight gain.

Another example of this is the cheater’s diet. This was created by Paul Rivas. He stated that by basing the meals on a Mediterranean style diet during the week, at the weekend cheat days are highly encouraged. Rivas explains that by having cheat days there is no restriction on having food and drink that consumers love to have, which include foods that may not be the healthiest of products. The diet is also supported by encouraging exercise.

According to a journal published by the European Journal of clinical nutrition, the writer Robinson explained that there were other factors that affected diet and lifestyle. While educational attainment had the strongest effects on diet, age, number of children living in the home, the number of people that smoked and the number of hours spent watching television, all were the contributing factors on the amount of exercise completed daily.

From the study it was concluded that the barriers that identified the issues facing diet and lifestyle, were to improve the quality of life, and not just based on weight loss alone. A study carried out by Yardley et al demonstrated that a combination of web based and health professional support for weight management could potentially offer a cost effective means of motivating obese patients to achieve a meaningful weight loss. It is important to be mindful that suitable diets that are recommended by Health Professionals including Dietitians, and Nutritionists are sourced by the National Clinical Governance Of Excellence (NICE). This is an organisation set up to provide guidance to improve the health and wellbeing in the United Kingdom.

Overall diets can be successful, especially for the better. As long as the vitamins, minerals as well as the macronutrients are not detrimental towards a poor diet, any diet can be positive long term, with the support of qualified health professionals.

Asian Handicap Explained

One of the unique things about football betting, at least in the past, is that you could bet on three different results. There is the obvious decision on which team will win, then you could even get odds on a tie. That made betting on the sport very difficult, especially when dealing with two teams that were essentially even. These days, there is a much easier way to bet on the sport, though. Through the Asian Handicap system, you can make a bet on essentially the goal spread of the game without having to worry at all about the possibility of a tie.

So how does this work? What it essentially does is assign a point spread the game. Instead of betting on Liverpool at -250 to win the game, you might have to bet Liverpool -1.5 goals. This means that Liverpool would be giving up one and a half goals to an opponent, who is obviously inferior in this setting. Why would people want to bet this way? It is nice because you can get pretty close to even money on your bet when you play an Asian Handicap, having to pay only the vig to the sports book, as they have to take some cut from your winnings.

The goal spread is not limited to just this one number, though. It is different from many sports (like hockey), in that the goal spread can change depending upon which teams are playing. You might see one side giving up 3.5 goals on an Asian Handicap if they are in a completely different talent class than the team they are playing. When you bet on these lines, it is important to understand not only a team’s ability and desire to win the game, but also its ability to score many goals in order to cover the number.
