How To Stop Overeating: 7 Ways To Put Down Your Fork

#1. Take 10 Deep Breaths.

Breathe in and fill your chest with air, and breathe out with an even slow pace. If you’re in public, you can do this subtly and yet still give yourself time to pause and breathe. Then, resume eating if you wish, but with awareness of whether you really want more or not.

Breathing in with a large, deep breath and out with a slow, measured tempo causes you to pause for a moment to acknowledge your breathing. This pause opens space for awareness of what you’re doing rather than eating bite after bite without realizing you just finished the entire bowl. Once you’re aware, you can decide if you really want to continue or not, and why.

#2. Play a game with yourself: chew each bite 20 times.

Not only does chewing your food and counting help you focus on what you’re eating, it slows you down to extend the pleasure of the food. Why not draw out the flavor as long as possible?

#3. Drink a full glass of water between bites.

This will certainly fill you up quickly. Even if you don’t drink an entire glass, putting down your fork to take a few sips will still break the autopilot mode of fork-to-mouth.

#4. Get honest by asking «What happens right now if I stop?»

Would you feel robbed of pleasure? Angry, disappointed? Or victorious and proud? Imagine the scenario and what you would do. Then imagine how you’d feel an hour later, if you stopped before going overboard.

Just pausing for a moment to consider the outcome can build your momentum to stop. While it certainly may not be easy to stop eating when you’re in the middle of it, being conscious that you have the ability to make a choice gives you power.

#5. If you are by yourself, strip down naked and see how long you keep eating.

The awkwardness of it all can be enough to trigger your brain to stop.

#6. Keep a notepad close.

As you’re in the middle of eating or planning to eat more, write a list of at least 20 reasons why you should continue eating. This gives you perspective and awareness of what you’re doing and how you’re justifying it.

#7. Take your food and go sit somewhere where you don’t normally eat.

Maybe it’s on the floor in your living room, to a guest bedroom, to your backyard, etc. Going somewhere different keeps your attention focused on the present instead of slipping into the familiar pattern.

These tips are ways to «jolt» yourself awake to become conscious of what you’re doing so you can make a choice about whether you honestly want to keep eating or if you’re ready to stop. You can remind yourself you can always come back to it later. «Waking up» to what you’re doing and making a choice to continue or not puts you in power.

How to Get Rid of Fleas Safely and Naturally – Beware of So Called "Herbal Treatments"!

Owning an elderly dog with renal and liver problems and recently having been invaded by cat fleas from an onslaught of stray cats in the neighbourhood I went on a quest to find the safest and most natural flea treatments I could possibly find. After extensive research I was able to compile a veritable arsenal of flea treatments that I thought I would share with other dog owners, especially since the majority of us know how harmful chemicals and insecticides are. I, like many of you, absolutely refuse to expose my dogs to carcinogenic substances.

My dog has flea allergies so it was crucial for me to find effective yet safe solutions to this flea problem. One flea bite drives her crazy! Let me begin by telling you this, if you want to go natural in your quest to rid your house and pets of fleas you have to understand that you will have to use several flea prevention methods, and you’ll need to arm yourself with a bit of patience.

My interest was piqued in herbal collars and I decided to research them some more. To my dismay I found out that the majority of herbal collars include pennyroyal and rue. These herbs can cause liver and kidney damage (as well as many other health issues) when ingested, and while the probability that my old dog would actually ingest her collar was slim, I wasn’t prepared to risk it.

The next natural flea prevention solution I read about was Borax or Boric powder. People have been touting the miraculous effect these products have in combating fleas, and while I don’t doubt this it soon became clear to me that these were not safe products to use on my beloved pet. Borax is an abrasive substance so imagine what can happen if your pet inhales it, plus borates have a tendency to become concentrated in the kidney and can cause kidney damage.

Well, to cut a long story short, aside from my ever trusty flea comb, here’s what I am using:

1. Flea Traps: The kind that work by attracting fleas to a sticky surface. They use small bulbs to attract fleas to a sticky surface. I caught several small insects and fleas. What I do is leave them on overnight when it’s dark for maximum effect. A good way to increase their effectiveness is to move them around occasionally. I even put them in my dog’s beds (she has two, one in the lounge and one in our bedroom, so at night I put the trap in her lounge bed and during the day I darken the bedroom and put a trap in her night bed).

2. Dawn or Fairy Dishwashing Liquid: Regular Dawn of Fairy dishwashing liquid is great for bathing your flea infested dog, it’s less harmful than specialised flea shampoos as it doesn’t contain any chemicals or insecticides and you’ll get a warped sense of pleasure as you see the nasty creatures drown in the bathwater.

3. Herbal Collars: There are some harmless herbal flea collars out there; the one I’m using contains lavender buds and cedarwood shavings. While I’m not a big fan of cedarwood shavings it’s only a minute amount, just enough to keep those nasty pests away from my dog. The same company also makes a dry shampoo/flea powder using all natural (and safe) ingredients and the owner of the company is genuinely concerned about the safety of their products (I grilled her with all my concerns). Let’s just say it’s definitely «good riddance» to fleas!

4. Diatomaceous Earth: Make sure you buy HUMAN FOOD GRADE D/Earth, anything else is potentially toxic. Sprinkle the D/earth under couches, beds, anywhere your dog doesn’t constantly hang around in. Make sure the dog is kept away while you’re doing this as inhaling the fine dust can cause problems and wear a dust mask if possible. D/earth can be used indoors and out but I would advise against using it outdoors as you would be killing many «good» insects as well. Ants, if they aren’t a problem for you, eat flea larvae so I consider them a valuable a part of my safe flea arsenal!

Human food grade d/earth or fossil flour as it’s also called is supposedly good for combating internal parasites as well, I intend on trying this as I’m afraid of using commercial worming medication on my dog at this point. I’ve tried to find out if it has any harmful side effects but haven’t been able to find any; in fact people are using fossil flour on a daily basis and claim it has many benefits. If you know of any harmful side effects of using it orally on a pet please let me know!

5. Bio-tags: There are a couple of companies out there that claim their tags provide your pet with a magnetic shield to keep fleas and ticks away. There are good and bad reviews on the subject but I haven’t been able to find any literature on any harmful side effects so I’m getting one for my dog, Worse case scenario I’m short a few bucks, I love my dog and would do anything in my power to make her comfortable and healthy so I don’t mind. I figure it won’t harm her and if it does work, that’s great!

6. Motion Detector Sprinklers: These are a great and humane way to keep flea-ridden animals out of your yard.

That’s it; I think I’ve covered it all! This is the culmination of my extensive reading and research and I hope it helps you get rid of fleas too. Please let me know if you have some safer flea cures!

Texas Hold’em – J10 – The Cloutier

Everyone knows the feeling of getting AA – whether it’s online or live there’s that little rush of excitement, and a bit of «here we go». But there are times when I’d rather look down to find J10, and if it’s suited, even better!

If you’re playing deep stacked tournament poker, jack-ten suited can be one of the most overlooked hands in your arsenal. Short stacked it’s next to worthless, as you won’t hit often enough to safely play it, but when you and the majority of your opponents are sitting on a sizeable number of big blinds, it becomes a very playable hand.

Many players put J10s in the same bracket as a lot of other suited connectors or one-gappers, but it beats all of them for a variety of reasons.

  1. All straights made using both cards are the nut straight – so if you flop a straight it’s the nuts barring flushes. The same is not true of lower connectors like 67s, where you can flop the bottom end of a straight. Whilst it is true of all higher connectors and gappers like JQ KQ and KJ, those hands don’t make as many straights as J10.
  2. It’s easy to get away from – you either hit a big draw or hand, or you don’t and get away form the hand. Hands like KQ and KJ it’s too easy to get pulled into a pot with top pair and lose a lot of chips. Basically you’re winning big pots or losing small ones – always good!
  3. When you hit, there’s usually action. With 67, you can flop a great looking 458, but against opponents with two high cards, you’re not going to get paid. Flop AKQ holding J10 though, and there’s a very high chance your opponents have hit as well.

This links nicely into the last important thing to remember about J10: It is a marginal hand, and should be played as such. Using it to make moves with isn’t a great idea, as you lose some of the value of a cheap flop. What you want is a cheap multi-way pot, the same as with other speculative hands. The more players are in the pot the better, for two reasons, firstly you’ll be getting better value to call in the first place, but most importantly there’s more people too pay you off.

You don’t just need to hit a hand to win a nice pot; you also need someone else to hit a slightly weaker, but still playable one. And there’s simply more chance of that with more people in the pot. And of course if you have a straight you know it’s the nuts, so you get your money in knowing for certain if you’re ahead.

So, deep-stacked, against deep-stacked opponents, favourable position, with a few players in the pot… J10 is well worth a look!

Discover Photography: The Art of the Image

Since the time of Stone Age Man, when images of the animals and men hunting were first used to decorate the walls of cave, we have been fascinated by the captured image. Although it was not until the invention of photography that truly made this fascination into an art form that everyone could enjoy regardless of artistic ability. People all over the world take pictures of themselves, relatives and friends, pets and landscapes whether or not there is a particular circumstance or reason for doing so. But how much do we actually know when it comes to photography? Below are some of the different kinds of photography that will help us learn more about the different ways of taking photographs.

Amateur Photography has grown in recent years with the advent of cheep digital cameras and this digital photography that has become easily accessible to the amateur due to the low cost of both equipment and reproduction of the images, that we will have a brief look at in this article.

Black and White or Monochrome Photography

The first are to consider is black and white or monochrome photography. This is not simply presenting an image in black and white. Black and white photography explores the contour and character, tone and texture, the aesthetic art and beauty of the subject. The two components of black and white photography that give depth and feeling to the image are the shadows and highlights, if we learn to use them then we can create great images.

Color sometimes obscures the texture and form of subjects, it draws our attention the way flowers attract insects and birds, and ripe fruit catches your eye on a tree. Sometimes that's what we want, but black and white can emphasize the texture of the subject.

The variety of ways that different colors convert to different greys means that you can have quite fine control over just what parts of your picture will be light and dark, in addition to lighting levels. The absence of light can be as important as the highlights. Good deep shadows can give a depth and solidity to an image. It allows us to separate out the effects of color and luminosity, put another way black and white photography allows us to use color more effectively.

Action Photography

Action Photography may be where the photographer takes pictures of sporting event, or of children playing, anything intact where there is movement. Either set the shutter speed to freeze the action or try a slower shutter speed to blur the movement. This blur effect can create the sense of drama and movement. If the subject is moving across the frame try to track the subject, this is called panning, the effect once perfected is the subject is sharp but the background has the movement blur giving the impression of speed.

Shooting Action Shots of Athletes, people and animals in motion, and other moving objects create wonderful photo opportunities. However, capturing fast action on a digital camera can be challenging.

Certain settings on many digital cameras allow photographers to photograph action in a point-and-shoot mode specifically designed for moving subjects. Other times it is up to the photographer to manipulate the digital camera to achieve the best possible photos.

Digital cameras with less shutter lag capture better action shots. Regardless of your camera's specifications, you can further minimize shutter lag by pre-focusing before you snap the picture. To do this, hold down the shutter button halfway and then once the camera has focused; press it down all the way to take the shot.

Fast shutter speed allows photographers to capture great shots of moving subjects. If your digital camera supports a slower shutter speed, it is still possible for you to shoot some wonderful action shots. It may take some practice, but try panning the camera, keeping the lens on the subject's action.

Shoot in continuous mode if it is available to you. You might feel like the paparazzi when you first get started, but you will love how this quick mode does not let you miss a shot! Digital cameras that support continuous shooting work nicely for action shots because they are able to write all the photos to memory at the same time instead of one by one.

Anticipate the action and position yourself accordingly. If you are shooting sports, camp out by the goal line or find a good location where you can get clear shots of the athletes.

Invest in a good lens. Many action shots will benefit most from a digital camera with a 200mm lens, though you can interchange lenses for different effects. Zoom lenses work wonders for sports action shots.

Aerial Photography

Aerial Photography is best if you want to photograph a landscape or cityscape. Sadly we can't all afford to have our own helicopter, but great effects can be achieved from the top of tall buildings, bridges or mountains. So although true aerial photography may be out of reach, we can still have the illusion of aerial photography.

Travel Photography

Travel Photography is not just about your holiday snaps. It is about capturing something of the feel, the emotion, the essence of a place. It is about telling the story of the people and the landscape; It captures the mood and the setting. But you don't need expensive foreign holidays; travel photography can be your record of the next town or city or even neighborhood. As a is an exciting local city for me to explore, but with the added advantage that it is not far to travel to.

When photographing people in their local context there are a number of techniques that I try to use but keep in mind the principle of treating people with respect.

I've already talked about making shots contextual but one great way to do this is to think about what's in the background behind the people you're photographing. Ideally you want something that's not too distracting but that adds to the context of the place you're shooting in. Another technique for shooting shots of people that ignores the 'contextual' rule is to find a brightly lit position with a dark background. This can really help the face you're shooting to pop out and capture the viewer's attention.

Some of the best shots I've taken of people while traveling have been where I've tightly frames people faces. This means either getting in close to the person or having and using a good zoom lens.

Go for natural (un-posed shots) – While sometimes the posed shots can work quite well they can also lack a certain authenticity. Photograph your subject doing something from their normal daily life, at work, the marketplace, home, or just crossing the street etc.

Most of the shots I've taken of people over the years while traveling have been of single subjects alone in the shot. This is partly just my style but is something I've become quite aware of in the last few months. Adding a second person into an image takes a photo into a different place. No longer is the shot just about a person and their environment but it somehow becomes relational. The viewer of the photo begins to wonder about the relationship and a new layer is added to your image.

Quite often it's the shots of people dressed in national costume that tend to attract photographers when traveling. While these shots can be very effective I wonder if they are always really representative of a culture. Quite often these people have dressed up especially for a show or tourist attraction and the majority of people in that country look quite different. Mix up the types, gender and ages of the people you take photos of and you can end up with a very effective collage of faces of a country.

It goes against the nature of most travel photography which is usually very fast and spontaneous, but if you can spend time with people, if you have the opportunity to sit with a person for a longer period of time and photographed them in a more extended manner This enables you to tell the story of the individual and can lead to some wonderful sequences of shots using different photographic techniques, lenses and situations, while the person becomes more relaxed around the camera.

Keep your camera to the eye for taking those spontaneous shots between the more posed ones. It's amazing what images that you can find when the person isn't 'ready' for you to shoot. These shots often include people interacting with others or expressing true emotion. I find setting my camera to continuous shooting mode often leads to some wonderful candid shots. If conditions permit don't replace your lens cap until you pack your camera away.

When it comes to choosing lens, I find that a focal length between 24mm and 135mm is a good range to work with. Going for wide angle lenses can also produce interesting shots but you will often find that they do distort your subject's face a little. Choosing a longer focal length can be useful for putting your subjects a little more at ease.

Underwater Photography

Underwater Photography has become more accessible with the advent of cheep underwater cameras. Whether you intend to take photograph in a pool, lake, river, or the sea underwater photography can be one of the most exciting and rewarding things to do.

The difficulties you encounter when in shooting underwater can be summed up in one word, "limitation." Communication and travel below the surface are limited. Natural light and visibility are limited. How you tackle these limitations depends on your skill underwater and your photographic equipment.

However the most important advice you can receive has little to do with photography, and everything to do with your safety. A watery environment can be a dangerous one, even if it is a swimming pool. No photograph is worth your life. Depending on the type of underwater photography you wish to practice, you must first acquire the appropriate specialized knowledge and training, and obtain certification from a qualified instructor. This applies to every aspect of underwater activity, from basic swimming skills to advanced sub aqua diving techniques.

This list is by no means exhaustive; they are just some of the various types of photography you can discover. There are so many other forms of photography from infrared to medical, street, landscape, portrait, macro and Panoramic photography. Photographic work can be divided into dozens of categories, many with lots of sub-categories. But for now, just go and have fun with your camera and discover the joy of photographing you chosen subject!

Avoid the Boredom on a Maldives Holidays

I regularly take calls from potential clients keen to visit the Maldives but worried that more than a week will drive them to distraction. As you probably know The Maldives are predominantly small unspoilt and natural islands offering guests the opportunity to experience a world largely untouched by commercialism, so many clients feel that after a few days of tranquility and relaxation they are ready to try something else. Enter the Multi Center Holiday! There are several airlines that fly to both the UK and one of the surrounding destinations to the Maldives so combining both locations in one holiday saves money on the flights and has the benefit of making you feel as if you have been on two holidays.

Maldives and Dubai – Emirates Airlines are the National Airlines of the UAE and based rather conveniently in Dubai, half way between the UK and the Maldives. All the Emirates Airlines flights stop in Dubai on the way out and back to the Maldives giving us as travellers the opportunity to stop over en route and experience what it has to offer. The flights from the UK are from Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham and both Gatwick and Heathrow to Dubai taking approximately 6 hours before connecting on to the Maldives, a short 4 hours away.

Dubai offers a totally different experience from the Maldives and whilst is can't beat the Maldives for beaches it does have a lot to offer and well worth a short stop especially as your flying through the airport. Dubai is a man made, vibrant, high raised city by the beach. Its filled with hotels of all standards, restaurants, bars and an unsurpassed level of customer service. The hotels have been compared to the glitz of Las Vegas as so many are theming themselves to offer something different from the neighbor hotel and competitor. More importantly Dubai is an eclectic blend of the Western and Arabic culture and customs.

Maldives and Sri Lanka – Although close to the Maldives, Sri Lanka is a world apart, from these tiny unspoilt islands. Sri Lanka is the same size as Ireland and full of wildlife and beautiful scenery with a wealth of history.

You could choose to stay on one of Sri Lanka's beaches and experience the change in culture, or combine the Maldives with a Sri Lankan Safari – the wildlife is excellent here especially in Yala National Park renown for the tigers or perhaps undertaking a classical Sri Lankan tour with car and driver taking in all the highlights in this largely unspoilt country. Its important you look at the foreign office web site to keep yourself up to date on the troubles that have taken place in the very north of Sri Lanka, its not an area that benefits from tourism but by reading the foreign office web site you'll get the up to date picture. Sri Lankan Airlines operates a direct service taking 12 hours between Heathrow and the Maldives several times a week and also a daily service between Heathrow and Colombo taking aprox 9 hours and Colombo and the Maldives, a further 2 hours which makes Sri Lanka and the maldives a very attractive combination. Its also a very effective way of lengthening your holiday from a 10 night holiday to a 14 nights holiday as accommodation in Sri lanka is half the cost of the accommodation in the maldives allowing you to add a few extra days for very little money.

Maldives and Kerela – Long Sandy beaches, scenic spice and tea plantations. Extensive and fascinating backwaters describe the idyllic coast state of Kerela. Kerela is famous though out India for is therapeutic expertise in Ayurvediac treatments and most hotels have excellent Spa's.

Maldives and Bangkok, – Here is your opportunity to combine the Thailand with the Maldives. Bangkok represent the exoticism of the east, a lively mixture of both the ancient and the modern. Bangkok has retained its traditional charm amidst the disco's, bars, nigh markets and heavy traffic. An exotic city with glittering temples, culture and warmth.

Maldives and Singapore – Sri Lankan Airlines based in Colombo half way between these two destinations offer a superb service from Heathrow down to the Maldives and across to Singapore giving you to chance to combine the Maldives with the garden city. A bustling mix of Malay, Chinese and Indian races cultures and cuisines. Singapore offers fabulous shopping, plenty of sightseeing and a large variety of restaurants to choose from.

A great tip when planning your trip is to look at a map of where the Maldives is located, its likely that the surrounding countries will operate flights to and from and so logistically it will be possible and if cost is important then selecting the locations that the aircraft has to stop in is always a good bet.

Manchester: The Free Spirit City in Northwest England

Of all the cities of Europe, Manchester is the most progressive, and after London the most important city in England. Socially, there is an motivational energy in Manchester that is a driving force socially and culturally. Manchester has embraced the realities of the social changes of the 21st century in an open manner. This is so for two reasons. There are five universities and five colleges in Manchester, and the resulting youthful dynamic this provides has considerable influence. Yet this influence is in complete harmony with and magnifies the long tradition of the Mancunian propensity to challenge the status quo, to be the vanguard of social change, and in being pro-active in civil liberties and civil rights. This has created a very different English city in tone, demeanor, and appearance than what Americans may expect.

The Rebuilding

Because of extensive bombing during World War II, there was a considerable amount of rebuilding, and with the Mancunian penchant for innovation, instead of rebuilding the old they constructed buildings of contemporary design. So the look and feel of Manchester is that of a dynamic city that is definitely quirky, but also modern and impressive.

Madchester

This dynamicism has been a magnet for creative young artists and musicians from across Britain, and this has created a very active cultural climate in the fine arts and in the performing arts. Manchester is home of the ‘musical revolution’ that brought about the Hallé symphony orchestra and progressive music groups such as The Stone Roses, Oasis, Happy Mondays, the Inspiral Carpets, James, and hundreds more. Manchester’s music revolution was even dramatised in the 2002 film, «24 Hour Party People», a 3½ star digital-video depicting the punk era through the late-’80s «Madchester» era. The music scene in Manchester is a source of local pride and is representative of the spirit of this great city.

Youthful Adventures

With such a large and vibrant uni student population in Manchester, that means a lot of uni student life, and nightlife. If you want a night out on any night of the week, that’s no problem. There is always a cheap club to get in with no dress code, packed pubs with happy hours, lots of cheap food including ‘takeaway’ (takeout food), and places to meet girls, places to meet guys, places to meet girls and guys, whatever you want.

First, head on down to the section of the city called Studentville. It’s the Oxford Road area and it is packed with pubs, bars less picky about dress style, and it’s active most of the time.

The Northern Quarter is in Manchester City Centre between Shudehill and Victoria Station. This is a bohemian and offbeat alternative lifestyle area with a lot of cafés, pubs, bars, music shops, art galleries, clothes boutiques, and emporiums. In the Northern Quarter you can find all sorts of weird, delightful, and wonderful stuff. The pubs and bars are located mostly on High Street and Oldham Street. There is also a bazaar in Affleck’s Palace, which use to be a department store. Some cafés morph into nightlife with various music venues.

The Gay Village is a unique centre for the large and flourishing gay community. The Gay Village is in the Canal Street and Chorlton Street area and includes Sackville, Whitworth, and Princess Streets. Across the canal is Sackville Gardens and Manchester College. Canal street is a pedestrian street lined with is lined with gay bars and restaurants.

Manchester Pride is a yearly ten-day LGBT event that takes place in mid-to-late August. It includes a Pride Fringe festival, film showings, a colorful parade that makes their way across the city and ending in the Gay Village, and a weekend celebration called ‘The Big Weekend’. This is a ticketed three-day program of outdoor entertainment in the Gay Village during the August bank holiday weekend. It all ends with a Candlelit Vigil in Sackville Gardens.

Free Things to Do

Here is a partial list of free things to do around Manchester.

  • The John Rylands Library at the University of Manchester at 150 Deansgate, south of Bridge Street, is unusual and beautiful on the inside. It is a masterwork of Victorian Gothic (or Neo-Gothic) architecture. There is a collection in the library of magnificent medieval manuscripts.
  • Museum of Science and Industry or MOSI, on Liverpool Road aims to make science and industry inspirational and enjoyable. Well, that depends what part of this huge museum you are in. However, there are trains you can actually ride, a Planetarium, and a 4D cinema (you do pay for a fairly old short film, about £5.50, which is generally rated as fair). The airplane display is near the end of the entire exhibit area and since the place is really big, don’t wear out too early because the planes are rather cool. Just quickly walk pass the boring story-board exhibits. Some people be delirious about this place. I don’t know why, but the planes, planetarium, and trains are def. There is a decent restaurant and coffee shop in the museum.
  • Heaton Park, four miles north of the city centre in Prestwich, offers huge green lawns with good views of Manchester, row boats on the lake, footpaths to walk through the woods, cycle paths as well, a beautiful and quirky 18th century mansion, Smithy Lodge, open to the public with period furniture, and a farm with farm animals and beekeeping to see.
  • Whitworth Art Gallery on Oxford Road next to Whitworth Park at Manchester University is especially known for their collection of British watercolours and modern and historic prints. Of course there are also drawings, paintings and sculptures. There is a summer program of events to check out.
  • City Airport & Heliport‘s Art Deco control tower is open to the public, free, and you can observe the planes and helicopters landing and taking off. City Airport is on Liverpool Road in Eccles and is not to be confused with the Manchester International Airport on the other side of town.

Other places to visit include the Manchester Art Gallery, The Lowry, National Football Museum, Peoples History Museum, Manchester Museum, and Manchester Cathedral.

Like the rest of England, there are a list of festivals as well as local events in Manchester that occur during the warm months. These include such things as the Manchester Picnic, various displays and «thought provoking experiences» at Tatton Park, the Float-In Movie, Harry Potter Day, and Canal Festival. Check the local tourist office for details on festivals the occur during your visit.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tidbits

Those who live in the Miami area may – worried that they will be shunned from restaurants and country clubs – claim to be Dolphins fans, growing fins and living underwater in their spare time. But Miami, like any other city in a state with multiple football teams, likely has its fair share of Tampa Bay fans. Perhaps these folks once lived in Tampa Bay and moved to Miami. Perhaps they grew up watching Tampa Bay or know someone who played for them. Perhaps, they (gasp!) Would just rather be a Buccaneer than a Dolphin. For you Tampa Bay fans lingering in the city of Miami, this article is one you'll likely want to pirate.

Every NFL team has its fair share of history and trivia. But, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers possess some of the most interesting trivia around. Those who disagree will have to walk the plank.

Kings of the South : Tampa Bay is the only team in the NFC South to prevail as Super Bowl Champions. Though Atlanta and Carolina have reached the Super Bowl, they have yet to be victorious. New Orleans, on the other end of the spectrum, is one of a handful of teams to have never made it to the championship.

The Rich Get Richer : The owner of the Buccaneers, Malcolm Glazer, also owns the Manchester United, an England soccer team. The Manchester United is considered the richest sports organization in the entire world.

Oops : The 1976 Buccaneers are the only team in modern day NFL history to lose every single game in a season. Since the NFL went to a sixteen game season, in 1978, several teams have gone 1-15, but no one has gone 0-16. During the 1982 season, which was shortened by a strike, the Baltimore Colts had no victories, but they had one tie to accompany their eight losses.

He could go all the way … but he won't : The Buccaneers are the only NFL team that has never scored a touchdown on a kickoff return during a regular season game, a feat that has, up till the start of the 2006 season, been done over 1700 times by other teams. The Bucs have, however, scored five touchdowns on kickoff returns during preseason games.

A Pirate's Curse : No team that has lost a regular season game to Tampa Bay has ever won the Super Bowl. This, because of its years in existence, is known as the Tampa Bay Curse and haunts anyone who falls to the Bucs before season's end.

The Warm Weather Factor : Until the final regular season game of 2002, in which Tampa Bay defeated the Chicago Bears in Chicago, the Buccaneers had never won a game where the temperature at kickoff was less than 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Before beating the Bears, the Bucs had lost the twenty previous games played in cold weather.

Keeping it Real : Not only did the Bucs not do well in cold weather, but they also did do well playing on artificial grass. They once lost 27 games in a row played on artificial turf in outdoor stadiums. This losing streak spanned 15 years, from the 1980 season to the 1995 season.

Coach Potatoes : Tony Dungy, who recently led the Indianapolis Colts to a Super Bowl victory and served previously as head of the Buccaneers, has seen four people from his Tampa Bay coaching staff make it as head coaches. Herman Edwards, an assistant under Dungy, coaches the Kansas City Chiefs; Rod Marinelli, a defensive coach under Dungy, coaches the Detroit Lions; Mike Tomlin, a defensive coach under Dungy, coaches the Pittsburgh Steelers; and Lovie Smith, a linebackers coach under Dungy, coaches the Chicago Bears. The former Buccaneers coaches met most recently in the 2007 Super Bowl.

Tampa Bay might not be a team full of Super Bowl rings or hall of fame names, but it's an interesting team nonetheless, and one that some Miami fans can't help but cheer for … even if done quietly.

Ronaldo – Will He Stay Or Will He Go?

Surely there is something more than just rumor afoot regarding the future of Cristiano Ronaldo. As the rumors continue unabated, and with Ronaldo himself refusing to quell the stories linking him to Real Madrid, speculation inevitably grows and it is still a distinct possibility that the brilliant Portuguese striker / winger will join the Spanish giants. Sir Alex Ferguson has said, very loudly, that Ronaldo is simply not for sale and if 'push came to shove', then Ronaldo would sit out next season in the stands. That of course will not happen no matter how this ongoing saga is concluded, but it indicates that United do not want to lose their superstar.

Real Madrid themselves, who have a history of shenanigans in the transfer market, say that they are patient, but have also made it very clear that Ronaldo is their number one target and whilst that remains the case then Ronaldo, Sir Alex and the Manchester United fans will not get any rest. The Spaniards are used to getting their man and it seems that sooner or later they will succeed with Ronaldo.

One rumor that has done the rounds is the one where he told friends in confidence that he will do whatever is necessary to engineer a way out of United and make the move to the Bernabau. How true that is no-one really knows but other rumors also persist that he has no desire to play another long season in the Premier League. That is understandable, especially with UEFA Champions League fixtures to contest as well.

Miguel Arroyo, Managing Director of Real Madrid has said that they will wait for Ronaldo to initiate the necessary move but until he does so they will remain patient. Figures such as £ 60m have been banded about for Ronaldo's signature and Sir Alex and his superiors at Old Trafford must weigh up whether £ 60m outweighs an unhappy player on the books.

Ronaldo says he will make a statement regarding his future after Euro 2008, the very fact that he is doing this suggests that there is still something in the air, surely, if his plans are to stay with United then it would have been easier for him to publicly and unequivocally state that, thus removing the distraction and allowing him to concentrate on his football for his country. Now that Portugal are out of the Tournament he has no further excuses; he must declare his intention. That is of course if he has not sneaked out the back door and gone for a much needed holiday.

Those interested in the saga should keep their eyes peeled on the online football betting which will also gather momentum as this next few days unfold.

How to Talk Dirty to a Guy – Forgetting Your Ps and Qs

Men are simple creatures. They love women, food, and fun. Women of course want to keep their men happy so they do all sorts of things to manage the relationship. They might cook, clean, do favors, and of course meet his sexual needs. Some men require a bit more prodding to stay with one woman. Maybe their hormones are elevated or their eye wanders – whatever the reason, she needs to keep the passion alive, so she turns to various weapons in her sexual arsenal. The first one many women turn to would be the passion of the tongue. We're referring to the art of dirty talking. Most women first want to learn how to talk dirty to a guy as this simple act can propel a relationship to new heights, strengthening his virility and endearing him to her for life.

However, women first need to learn how to speak dirty to a guy properly. The words we speak matters just as much as the way the words are said. Imagine the following line of dialogue being spoken with more and more emphasis being placed on the next word. It's not a matter of going through the sentence fast, but emphasis where he knows you're getting serious. This is a primer line – a sexual indicator – a message to him that you are horny and ready for some action.

"Your muscles turn me on."

If you still don't see the difference, imagine the first word "your" being said in a whisper and the last word "on" being said through clenched teeth in his ear. Do you see it now? He would be turning to kiss the girl in about three, two, and one. The motive of good dirty talk is to get him into the mood and keep him there. He should be thinking about you for the next twenty-four hours. He'll be begging for you to come back over to him for more of your tongue action.

So what keeps him excited? Most men are the same – they love women who can turn them on and care for them at the same time. They want sex and the love, without being smothered. The passion behind the sex usually comes through talking mildly sexual to him in unexpected places. You might be walking through the grocery store and catch a glimpse of his physique. Let him know. If you have fantasies that revolve around how he looks, acts, and behaves, then let him know. Play it out in real life, but walk him through how he acts in your mind.

How to talk dirty to a guy begins with how you say things and ends with how you present those things. Sure the words coming off your tongue may seem odd at first, but if you paint a picture of the fantasy you have, then he will begin to see it too. In time, dirty talk will feel less dirty and more like talk. Give it a try. It's sure to spice up the relationship.
