An Ice Bowl On "The Frozen Tundra" – The Best NFL Game Ever Played

The NFL Dallas Cowboys joined the league as an expansion team in 1960. Since that time they have been a success on and off the field and have enjoyed an avid following in the state of Texas, the United States at large and internationally as well. Dallas Cowboys history is marked with many great events and endless memorable games, none more so, perhaps, than the Ice Bowl of 1967.

Ice Bowl is a term that has been attached to a number of sporting events that have taken place in extremely cold weather conditions. The 35th National Football League Championship game that took place in 1967 between the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys was one such game. Due to the importance of the game, the rivalry between the teams and the game's stunning conclusion, it is considered to be one of the greatest games played. The weather conditions that the teams endured during the game cemented its place among the all time greatest games in NFL history.

The Ice Bowl game of 1967 is remembered not only for the play on the field but also for all the happenings and consequences attributed to the brutally cold football conditions. The game that took place on December 31, 1967 at Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers in Green Bay, Wisconsin, is one of the coldest NFL games ever played. At game time the official temperature was -13 ° F (-25 ° C), with a wind chill of -48 ° F (-44 ° C). The playing field was as hard as a rock and almost as smooth as a hockey rink as the cold temperatures overwhelmed the new turf heating system at the stadium. As a result of the Ice Bowl, Lambeau Field was affectionately referred to thereafter as "the Frozen Tundra".

The Ice Bowl was the second consecutive NFL championship game between the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys. The Packers had won the game in 1966 with a 34-27 defeat of the Cowboys. On this cold day in December 1967 the Green Bay Packers, coached by legendary great Vince Lombardi, jumped out to an early 14-0 lead with two touchdown passes from quarterback Bart Starr to wide receiver Boyd Dowler. However, two costly turnovers by Green Bay in the second quarter allowed Dallas to score ten points and end the half down 14-10. Neither team put any points on the board in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter the Cowboys struck early with a 50-yard touchdown pass from running back Dan Reeves to wide receiver Lance Rentzel on a halfback option play that put them ahead 17 to 14. Later in the fourth the Packers missed on a 40-yard field goal attempt. With just under four minutes to play and on their own 32-yard line, Starr led the Packers down the field with three key completions. They then ran the ball to the 3-yard line of the Cowboys. Twice the Packers attempted to run the ball into the end zone but both times they were stopped at the 1-yard line – the icy field and poor footing playing a part in the second attempt.

With only 16 seconds left on the clock Starr called a time-out. He and Coach Lombardi conferred on the sidelines. Many teams, including the Cowboys, expected a passing play as a completed pass in the end zone would win the game and an incompletion would allow for another play for a touchdown to win or a field goal attempt to take the game to overtime. The Packers, however, partly influenced by the treacherous footing and weather conditions had another idea. After the snap Starr executed a quarterback sneak and went in to score a touchdown giving the Packers a dramatic 21 to 17 lead. The Cowboys received the ball back on the kick-off but were unable to advance the ball in the few remaining seconds. With the victory, the Packers defeated the Cowboys for the second straight year and won their third consecutive NFL Championship.

The Green Bay Packers went on to easily defeat the American Football League Champion, Oakland Raiders, to win Super Bowl II. At the time the Super Bowl was considered by many to be of lesser importance than the NFL Championship game (that would all change the next year when the AFL Champions upset the NFL Champions to claim the Super Bowl). The Ice Bowl and Super Bowl II marked the end of an era as Vince Lombardi, after winning five NFL Championship games in seven years and Super Bowl I and II, retired as head coach of the Packers. The following season the Packers had a losing record as age and injury caught up to the team. It would be thirty years before they would be a dominant force again. On the other hand the Dallas Cowboys were becoming a force to be reckoned with and would show their domination in the 1970s winning two Super Bowls.

The bitterly cold weather experienced at the Ice Bowl had an affect and left its mark on every aspect of the game including the pre-game and half time entertainment, how the game was called, the health of the players, and the overall comfort of the fans. During the warm-up for the pre-game show the wood wind instruments of the marching band froze and the mouthpieces of the brass instruments stuck to the players lips. Several of the band members suffered hypothermia and in the end the performances by the band were cancelled. The metal whistle used by the official to signal the start of the game froze to his lips and thus ended the use of whistles for the day. For the rest of the game the officials used only their voices to call the plays. Also on this day, the health of players was compromised as some suffered frostbite during the game and Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Don Meredith was diagnosed with pneumonia and hospitalized on his return to Texas.

The Ice Bowl of 1967 will forever go down in the history books as a remarkable game not only due to "the Frozen Tundra" and the elements the players had to face but also due to the drama of the final minutes. The game capped an amazing run for the Green Bay Packers and marked the end of a coaching career for the legendary Vince Lombardi. It also revealed what was ahead for Cowboys football and Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry as the team completed their second winning season of what would become 20 consecutive years of winning seasons. At the Ice Bowl of 1967, the glory days of the Dallas Cowboys were just beginning.

Silence in Home Buying – The Ultimate Negotiation Tactic

A home buyer skilled in negotiation should possess several tactics in their arsenal. However, you may have never heard (pun intended) one of the most powerful tactics. The use of silence in negotiation can earn you more money per word then Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Terminator. Observe and enjoy.

Once upon a time, I represented the buyer of an apartment complex. The seller of the apartment complex was also the real estate agent selling the property. The asking price was $1,050,000. I went to tour this apartment complex without my buyer and at the end of the appointment, I inquired as to the asking price. The owner/agent said «It is $1,050,000.» I employed a technique called cringing. I said «A million fifty thousand!! My buyer can’t pay that. That’s way too much! And then I was silent. He kind of shifted uncomfortably for a few seconds as the silence became unbearable, and then he said «Well, the best I can do is $960,000.» He came off the price $90,000 in less than 20 seconds.

Suppose that, rather than staying silent and letting the seller speak next, I began talking again. What do you suppose the odds would have been of him conceding a significant chunk of money? Probably not very high. It is likely he would have let me keep talking and tell him what my buyer would pay and then use the cringe tactic on me. Silence is one of the most effective techniques in a negotiators arsenal yet one of the most difficult to master. Why is this?

Silence is difficult to master because being silent in the presence of another person is uncomfortable. The next time you are with someone, be completely silent for 15 seconds. Not while the other person is talking. When there is a break in the conversation or a verbal serve directed at you, wait 15 seconds before your return shot. You have probably just experienced the awkward silence. And you were doing it on purpose. Imagine if you didn’t know this was a game and someone employed this technique on you. The anxiety that builds up is enough to make even the most introverted person babble uncontrollably. That is the power of silence.

When you are negotiating for your home and you employ a tactic or make a verbal offer, go mute and don’t speak again until the other party speaks. Make it a game if you like and see who blinks first. Once the silence becomes uncomfortable to the seller, they will likely start talking and if they continue, they will likely negotiate against themselves or give you an advantageous piece of information. They may reduce the price if you have used a tactic or they may accept if you have posed an offer. But even if they don’t make a concession, you have lost nothing by trying it, not even air from your lungs. You may just be surprised at how much you can gain.

The Beatles – Live in Barcelona

«I’m sorry, he’s from Barcleona,» Basil Fawlty used to say to bemused guests at Fawlty Towers, to explain the erratic performance of his Spanish waiter, Manuel.

In a bizarre reversal, I found myself saying to the street-puppeteer on La Rambla, Barcelona’s main tourist thoroughfare; «It’s all right, I’m from Liverpool,» in an attempt to reassure her as to my qualifications for assisting her with her Beatles puppet show. Obviously, because I am from Liverpool, I am an expert on anything remotely connected with the fab four, even a puppet show, about which I know less than nothing.

What drew my attention in the first place was the pathetic sight of the Beatles reduced to a duo of John and

Ringo only, Paul and George apparently comatose on the stage. Whether this was an attempt to

authentically re-create their early Hamburg performances, where they often performed for hours on end

before collapsing with exhaustion, I do not know, but I suspect it may have had something to do with the

absence of her partner.

Naturally, I could not allow this sorry state of affairs to persist: I immediately offered my services, free of

charge, that the Beatles could perform once more as the fab four we know and love. She was less than

enthusiastic, suspecting (rightly) that I was possibly the worse for drink, and insisted on giving me a lengthy

tutorial on the mechanical workings of the puppets, which not only danced rhythmically to the music, but

were also able to strum their instruments, by means of one half of a pair of scissors which was worked by

the puppeteer’s thumb.

When I had mastered this technique to her satisfaction, she fired up the CD player, and The Beatles

demonstrated once again what made them such a great live band. The puppets themselves were

remarkably accurate – John Lennon had a suitably prominent nose, Paul was left-handed and played a

violin-style bass, and they even seemed to move like the real moptops, although Ringo was possibly more

animated than I remember.

Initially, all went well. A small crowd formed, the music blared out of the tinny speakers, the band kicked up

a storm. To increase the authenticity still further, I maneuvered Paul over to George’s microphone for the

harmonies – the puppet lady was clearly dismayed by this – with two puppets so close together, a fatal

string entanglement was the only possible outcome. Her eyes flashed at me, and Paul returned to his

rightful position on the edge of the stage. We did one more song together, but she made it clear that

enough was enough. I was asked to leave the group. Now I know how Pete Best felt.

Betfred – A Review of Their Unique Bets and Free Bet Deposit Bonus

The world of betting has changed massively in recent times, long gone are the days when if you wanted to have a bet you had to go into a dark, smoke-filled local bookmaker where everyone stared at you as you walked in if you weren’t a regular.

Betfred, who have been around for nearly 50 years since being founded by Fred Done, have certainly adapted to the changing betting market to meet expectations of an ever more demanding customer base. Their shops are now state-of-the-art with the latest widescreen betting terminals, wall-to-wall television screens showing all the day’s sports and racing, friendly and helpful shop staff and a clean comfortable environment in which to have a bet.

Impressively Betfred are one of the market leaders in the highly competitive on-line betting marketplace, this is not an easy thing to achieve but they have done so by keeping in the public eye via TV advertising, a strong high-street presence, sponsorship of major events as well as being the Wembley Stadium official betting partner for England and other football association games staged at the venue. They also sponsor major horse racing events at Haydock and Kempton Park racecourses, and to appeal to a wider spectrum they sponsor dog racing at Nottingham an Owlerton Greyhound stadiums.

Betfred hit the headlines due to some of Fred Done’s more outrageous betting decisions which certainly haven’t always been correct, especially when it comes to his beloved Manchester United. Infamously they have twice incorrectly paid out early on Manchester United winning the Premiership title only for them to lose it to Arsenal and Manchester City respectively in the final games of the season. Very expensive mistakes but it proves even the bookmakers are prone to going with their hearts instead of their heads when it comes to bets.

The main thing that sets Betfred apart from it’s competitors and keeps customers going back is the unique extra value bets they continuously create, a couple of which you can see below:

• Goals Galore is unique to Betfred and is brilliant in its simplicity, where you can win big with as little as a £1 stake. The concept is easy; you pick football matches in which you think both teams will score and if you choose correctly you win. You have to pick a minimum of three games (odds 7/2) but can choose up to a maximum of fifteen games (huge odds of 1,500/1). Regardless of the final result of the matches selected, as long as both teams have scored in each game you win. If you want to take the bet a bit more seriously and increase your chances do some research on home, away and goal scoring form on one of the many soccer stats websites out there.

• Double Delight & Hat-trick Heaven is another Betfred exclusive and also offers great value. The rules of the bet are simple; select a game and then pick who you think will be the first goal-scorer and if they score you win. Normally this would be the end of your bet but it is not enough for Betfred! If your choice of goal-scorer then goes on to score a second goal your odds will be doubled. But that’s still not it – if they then go on to score a third you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to guess that, amazingly, the odds will be trebled!

Apart from the exclusive bets above, for new customers Betfred are offering a £50 free bet by matching first deposits. You can find more details on how to qualify for these free bets below.

Who Will Lift the Premier League Trophy Next Season?

With the start of the new Barclays Premier Season only forty-nine days away, supporters across the globe have already begun marking the days off their calendars. Ever since the completion of last season on May 24th, several of the proverbial 'bigs' team have made additions to their squads. So the looming question is; Who will lift the Premier League Trophy next season? Of course, Chelsea are the favorites having won last year, but they will have to overcome several difficult opponents if they hope to retain their trophy.

One of the teams who will push them close is Manchester United. In Louis Van Gaal's first season in charge, the Red Devils finished fourth and gave Chelsea a scare both times they played. That being said, a lot of pundits still believe that United will not have the quality to push for the title. So far this summer, they have signed young Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven for an estimated £ 25 million. Having played under Van Gaal in the 2014 World Cup, Depay will fit into his new team with ease. Another team that will compete with Chelsea is Arsenal. The Gunners finished in third place last season and retained the famous FA Cup.

However, the season ended up being a disappointed one due to the team being unable to close out matches. So far the team from London have not confirmed any signings. In previous years this has been the unraveling of the team. Rather than sign top quality players, they would resort to only buying when there is value in the market. The number one position on Arsenal's wish list is that of a striker. With Olivier Giroud scoring only 19 goals last season, Arsenal supporters have been crying out for a new striker since the opening day of the transfer market. All in all, unless Arsenal sign a world class striker to support Giroud, they won't come close to winning the league. The third and final team that will challenge Chelsea is Manchester City. They had a dreadful season last year, in which they finished second and won no major honors. Among the disappointing results, there was also several reports of players falling out with manager; Manuel Pellegrini. This lead to the Chilean only barely holding onto his job. However, a team as rich as City will have no trouble selling the bad eggs and replacing them with phenomenal players. So to the dismay of millions, it seems as though Chelsea are the favorites. Manchester United, Arsenal, and Manchester City will fight, but do not be surprised if you see Chelsea's captain John Terry lifting the trophy yet again.

League of Legends Account Creation

Here is a quick guide to League of Legends (LoL) account creation. League of Legends is an awesome MOBA game available online. It is free to play and I guarantee that you will be hooked the moment you try it.

In LoL players are split into teams of 3-5 and get to choose a champion. They then play a match which takes between 20-40 minutes. The goal is to push past your opponents defenses and destroy their HQ (Nexus). There are currently 83 champions available in LoL but there is a new one released about every 3-4 weeks so the game never gets stale. Every single champion also has a unique set of abilities and base statistics which set them apart from all other champions and makes them unique. You also have the ability to purchase items during the match which boost your champions stats further and make them uniquely yours.

For those of you who like being able to level up your character and customize them outside of the match, LoL has you covered as well. As you play matches you will gain experience and IP. Experience increases your summoners level and IP allows you to buy new champions and runes. The max level in this game is 30. As you make your way towards level 30 you will unlock new mastery points and rune slots. You can then buy runes using your IP and assign mastery points to strengthen your character in certain areas of your choice like attack, defense, magic damage, etc.

Ready to get started?

Follow the link at the bottom of this page. It will take you to the League of Legends account creation page where you will get to choose a unique username that will identify you. This is similar to most other video games. Be aware however that the account name you sign up with is not the name you will appear under in the game. You will use this name to log into the game but that is it. After you have downloaded the game client and logged in for the first time you will get to choose your summoner’s name which is the name you will appear under to all the other people playing LoL.

5 Sentiments to Share in the Visitation Line

Going through the visitation line at a funeral is overwhelming. Sometimes it’s the first time seeing the family since the death of your loved one. Seeing everyone so distraught is emotionally draining and can leave us feeling stymied when it’s our turn to meet the family in the visitation line. Prepare yourself to come face to face with the family of the departed by thinking about what you’re going to say ahead of time. Here are 5 sentiments to share with the family as you make your way through the visitation line.

1. I’m Sorry for Your Loss

If you can’t think of anything else to say in the visitation line, tell the family that you are sorry for their loss. It lets them know that you recognize their sadness instead of minimizing their grief. Saying things like, «at least he lived a long life,» or «at least you got to spend those final days with her,» is insensitive and shows that you truly don’t understand the magnitude of their loss. Tell the family that you’re sorry for their loss and if that’s all you can muster up the strength to say, give them a hug and leave it at that.

2. Share a Memory

As you make your way through the line, share a story about the departed with the family. Whether it’s a memory that you all share together or one that is unique to you and the departed. Hopefully it will lighten their spirits, even if for just a moment.

3. Share Your Favorite Thing About the Departed

Say something like, «I just loved how your mom always had a smile on her face.» Or, «your sister had a special way of lighting up a room, I sure will miss her.» Pointing out the great qualities of the departed will remind the family of what a great person they had in their lives and keep the memory alive.

4. What They Meant to You

Telling the family just how important the departed was to you will give them a sense of pride: To know that their father was a mentor to you, or their daughter taught you everything you know about cooking. Share your profound experience with the departed with the family to let them know how much you will miss having them in your life.

5. Bring a Photo or Keepsake to Share

If you have a special photo of the departed or something that reminds you of them, bring it to the visitation and share it with the family. It’s a physical reminder of the departed, and can even show the family their loved one at a stage in his or her life that they had never known.

So often people fail to give any thought to what they’re going to say during the visitation and end up unintentionally saying something hurtful or insensitive. Plan ahead and think about what you want to say so the words don’t come out wrong when you come through the visitation line.

How to Talk Dirty to a Guy – Forgetting Your Ps and Qs

Men are simple creatures. They love women, food, and fun. Women of course want to keep their men happy so they do all sorts of things to manage the relationship. They might cook, clean, do favors, and of course meet his sexual needs. Some men require a bit more prodding to stay with one woman. Maybe their hormones are elevated or their eye wanders – whatever the reason, she needs to keep the passion alive, so she turns to various weapons in her sexual arsenal. The first one many women turn to would be the passion of the tongue. We're referring to the art of dirty talking. Most women first want to learn how to talk dirty to a guy as this simple act can propel a relationship to new heights, strengthening his virility and endearing him to her for life.

However, women first need to learn how to speak dirty to a guy properly. The words we speak matters just as much as the way the words are said. Imagine the following line of dialogue being spoken with more and more emphasis being placed on the next word. It's not a matter of going through the sentence fast, but emphasis where he knows you're getting serious. This is a primer line – a sexual indicator – a message to him that you are horny and ready for some action.

"Your muscles turn me on."

If you still don't see the difference, imagine the first word "your" being said in a whisper and the last word "on" being said through clenched teeth in his ear. Do you see it now? He would be turning to kiss the girl in about three, two, and one. The motive of good dirty talk is to get him into the mood and keep him there. He should be thinking about you for the next twenty-four hours. He'll be begging for you to come back over to him for more of your tongue action.

So what keeps him excited? Most men are the same – they love women who can turn them on and care for them at the same time. They want sex and the love, without being smothered. The passion behind the sex usually comes through talking mildly sexual to him in unexpected places. You might be walking through the grocery store and catch a glimpse of his physique. Let him know. If you have fantasies that revolve around how he looks, acts, and behaves, then let him know. Play it out in real life, but walk him through how he acts in your mind.

How to talk dirty to a guy begins with how you say things and ends with how you present those things. Sure the words coming off your tongue may seem odd at first, but if you paint a picture of the fantasy you have, then he will begin to see it too. In time, dirty talk will feel less dirty and more like talk. Give it a try. It's sure to spice up the relationship.

Chelsea Set to Dominate European Football

There is a new heavyweight force in European football, they are being bankrolled seemingly by the Russian economy, they mean business, and their name is Chelsea FC Chelsea Football Club have always been a decent club in the second strata of English clubs. In London alone Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have invariably been ahead of the Chelsea Blues, even West Ham have often put Chelsea in the shade. But no longer, for in the season 2004-2005, Chelsea won the English Premier League title for the first time in fifty years, their only previous winning season.

But they haven't stopped there, in the new season 2005-2006 they are already well clear in the title race leaving all their rivals gasping, and now they have set their sights on the pinnacle of all the club trophys, the European Champions League . Chelsea have never won the Champions League, indeed no London club ever has. And it is clear that their charismatic manager Jose Mourinho is intent on winning the Champions League again, he did so with his previous club Porto, of Portugal.

So what of the traditional English giants? Manchester United, often described as the world's richest football club, have fallen into the hands of the Glazer family of Tampa Bay fame, but they reportedly needed to borrow half a billion pounds to buy United, a debt the club now shoulders. Spending on new players has so far been thin on the ground and United's brusque Glaswegian manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, has admitted that United, for so long England's most successful club, cannot compete with Chelsea when it comes to buying players. The hordes of United fans are not amused, the natives are growing restless.

Arsenal, London's biggest and most successful club, lost their skipper and driving force Patrick Vieira last summer, he moved to Juventus in Italy for £ 12 million pounds and with their star striker Thierry Henry suffering fitness problems, they picked up some uncharacteristic defeats at unfashionable clubs like West Bromwich Albion and Middlesbrough. This is their last season at their famous old Highbury Stadium before they move to their new purpose built Emirates stadium almost next door. The increased capacity of 60,000 will undoubtedly give their French manager Arsene Wenger more money to spend next year, but of course they have to pay for that new ground too. Far from challenging Chelsea again, it would seem that Arsenal are more likely to fall further behind.

That leaves Liverpool and Newcastle. News comes through just today that the American Kraft Company and family are interested in investing in Liverpool FC, perhaps even buying the club outright just like Manchester United fifty miles up the road, but that is some way down the line. And they too are seeking to build a brand new stadium on Stanley Park and of course that all costs big money. Despite last year freakish win in the Champion's League, Liverpool's league form this season has again been patchy, and that included a 4-1 walloping by Chelsea on their own Anfield pitch. The idea that Liverpool might challenge Chelsea for the title remains a far-fetched one. Newcastle, England's second best supported club are gradually improving, and they have signed England's center forward Michael Owen, but they still remain unconvincing at the top level. They haven't won the title since Noah was seen building his ark, or so it seems, and they aren't going to do so this season either.

So though it is very popular for foreign investors to snap up the leading English (and Scottish) football clubs, it appears that only Roman Abramovich at Chelsea has the financial muscle to buy the best players around. He is the only one to put unlimited funds on the table. Top class players now command a transfer fee of £ 40 million each and whereas Manchester United might afford one of them a season, Chelsea's purse seems bottomless. They have already spent £ 220 + million and are still in the market to buy again when the transfer window re-opens in January.

They have already achieved success by winning at home, now the European Champion's League is the Holy Grail for them, a trophy they are now the outright favorites to win with the odds layers. And astonishingly they have achieved their success to date with an array of strikers who haven't really cut the mustard. Mutu the Romanian, was promptly sacked for drug taking, Crespo the Argentinian, was sent out to Milan on loan last season, and though he is back now he is hardly setting the world afire, or even playing that often, Gudjohnson an Icelander, plays more often than not, the muscular Drogba from the Ivory Coast, seems to have finally claimed the number nine shirt as his own, yet many blues followers still remain unconvinced about him, so it would seem likely that Chelsea may yet be looking for another proven goal scorer come January, especially after a recent rare defeat at Manchester United.

It would take a brave man to back against Chelsea in any competition at the moment. But if you'd like to, you can still have a free $ 30 dollar bet at Betfair.com by entering the code 6CHE3VPWJ when prompted. But one thing is for sure; no one would be surprised if this time next year the Premier League trophy AND the Champions League trophy were both on display in the Chelsea boardroom. It seems that only the Italian giants Milan and Juventus, and the Spanish top two, Real Madrid, and most especially Barcelona with their Brazilian superstar, surely soon to be the world player of the year, Ronaldinho, might stop the London blues. It really does seem as if we have entered a new era in European and world football, or if you prefer the ridiculous name that no one ever uses, Soccer. Chelsea fans have never had it so good while everyone else is left gasping in their wake, for it is a fact that Chelsea Football Club have raised the bar for everyone else to follow. Time will tell if anyone can.

Ian Callaghan – Liverpool FC Legend

Ian Callaghan was born in Liverpool in 1942, he supported Liverpool as a child and went on to play for Liverpool. During his eighteen years at the club, Ian Callaghan made a record 857 appearances for Liverpool, a record that still stands today and is unlikely ever to be broken.

Callaghan signed for Liverpool as an apprentice and made his first team debut during the 1960 season, when Liverpool were playing in the second division, he began to play regularly in the first team from 1961 season onwards. The 1962 season saw Liverpool win the second division championship and gain promotion back to the first division.

Nick-named 'Cally' Ian Callaghan became the backbone of the Liverpool team which embarked on a journey from second division mediocrity, to English and European football supremacy.

The 1963-64 season saw Liverpool win the first division league title and again in 1965-66, winning the FA Cup against Leeds United in 1965.

Ian Callaghan was known as a true gentleman, and he was only booked once during all his appearances for Liverpool. Initially employed as a 'winger' Callaghan was renowned for his pace, stamina and accurate passing, from which he created many goals for strike partnership Ian St John and Roger Hunt.

Later in his career Callaghan assumed a midfield role, after a career threatening injury during the 1970-71 season, from which he fought his way back into the team, and many say he played better in that role than he had done before.

Many believe that the 1973-74 was Callaghan's best at Liverpool, when he again helped them to win the FA Cup and he was awarded the football player of year award, and subsequently awarded an MBE for his services to football.

Callaghan's career at Liverpool was still far from over, at the age of 34 he helped Liverpool win the league title and UEFA Cup in 1976, and the following season win the league, and the European Cup for the first time in Liverpool's history.

Ian Callaghan was to play one more season for Liverpool, and the 1978 season saw Liverpool retain the European Cup. In the Autumn of 1978 Ian Callaghan finally left Liverpool, when he joined Swansea City, after an incredible 857 appearances and 69 goals. A true Liverpool legend.
