Quarterback Training Fundamentals

Quarterback Training Can Make All The Difference If You Want To Be the Starter On Your Football Team.

Quarterback training is the most important part of being an effective player. You can be born with all the skill in the world and if you do not have training, that skill will go to waste.

A good quarterback must master certain skills. You should have a good stance. Balance and confidence are essential to everything a quarterback does. If you are not balanced and confident, your game won’t be very good.

You should also know how to hold, carry, and pass the ball properly.   First, you must practice. Knowing the drills and plays is good but, if you don’t practice them, you may get surprised on game day.

The more you practice, the better you will play. QB training concentrates on a mixture of practice, repetition, technique, and strategy. A good quarterback doesn’t only throw the ball. Critical thinking skills are also required.

To be an effective quarterback, you must know your receivers and how they play intimately. Personalities, strengths, weakness, and moods are aspects of the receivers that a good quarterback must know. Being able to read the field, and predict how the other team will react to your strategies, how they will move, and how to react to it is also a part of being a good quarterback, and may be the most difficult. Quarterback training does not end with practice or camp. It is a lifelong learning experience full of strategy and skill.

Quarterback training camps help to provide the skills, strategies, and techniques vital to the position.

Leadership in the huddle is taught as well as footwork, accuracy, and many other skills.

There are many camps around the country and you should be able to find one close by. These camps can be expensive though, and for the amount of money you will pay, many don’t last long at all with some lasting as short as three days.

A less costly, inexpensive alternative to traditional camps is a quarterback training video. These little gems are great. Instead of paying hundreds of dollars for a mere few days of training, you can spend half the money and have a QB training DVD that you can watch repeatedly.

There are qb DVDs made by famous ex-NFL quarterbacks, as well as coaches. There are quarterback training videos on certain skills needed to be an effective quarterback. Strategy, skills, and ball control are some of the most important things a person will learn from QB training videos.

Being a quarterback is a tough job. The skills you have and the decisions you make will affect your entire team. Make the most of your training, and watch your training videos often. With training and practice, you will eventually be able to sharpen your skills, and lead your team to victory.

Gotta Get Big for Football!

On the first day of Football practice when I was entering the 10th grade, the coaches took our height and weight, and told us to bench press our bodyweight as many times as we could.

I was fifteen years old, 6 feet tall and 160 pounds. I played Center and Defensive End. The only bench pressing I had done was lying on the floor pressing the 100 pound plastic-coated cement weights my parents bought at the department store. The guys I was lifting with on my first day of practice were a little smaller than me, and had to press 135 pounds, but they only did it for a few reps. Before adding anymore weight, I wanted to try the 135. It was a good thing that we didn’t add any weight, because I couldn’t even press the 135 once! I was embarrassed that I was so weak, and I knew I had to get stronger.

The next blow came a couple of weeks later when I found out that my Mom had gone to the coaches to express her concern. She told the coach, “Aaron is so small and skinny that I am afraid he will be crushed by those older boys.” That did it. Now I was mad! There was no way that I was going to be crushed by anybody, and there was no way I was going to be small and skinny for that matter!

The funny thing about it was that even though I was small, skinny and weak, I was actually pretty good for a guy who had only played organized football for one season. We had enough guys that we were split into three teams. The Varsity was for the best of the best no matter what grade they were in. The JV was for those who weren’t quite good enough for the Varsity, and was mostly Juniors, with some Seniors and Sophomores. The Sophomore team was for all of the 10th grade players who were not good enough for the Varsity. Most of them played only on the Sophomore team, but I was different. I played for the Sophomore team each week, and that was just fun. I mean the competition was weak, and I was hitting the Quarterback on almost every play. Some of the 10th graders were good enough to play on the JV team each week also, and I was one of them. Now three 10th grade players were allowed to dress for the Home Varsity games, and I was one of them. The other two guys were!

wide receivers and they actually played, whereas I was a lineman and I never got in a Varsity game that year.

My 10th grade year was the first year I could take weight training class at school, and I took full advantage of it. I wanted to be the biggest, strongest guy on the Football team, but that was a long way off. The weight training program that the coach put us on was very simple and basic. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays we benched. If we had time after the bench press, we could choose between Military presses for our shoulders, French presses for our triceps, or Barbell curls for our biceps. Sometimes we got to those exercises, but with 4 guys in our group, it didn’t happen often. The workout was 5 sets of 5 reps. Usually, we warmed up with a light weight, like 95 pounds for me in the beginning, for our first set of 5. Each set we added a little more weight, so that only our final set of 5 was all out. Every couple of months the coach had us test our maximum for 1 repetition, even though I couldn’t even do 135 pounds at the beginning of the year, I was quickly b!

ecoming one of the stronger guys.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays our workout consisted of the Squat for 5 sets of 5 reps. If we finished our Squats early, we could do stiff-legged deadlifts or donkey calf raises with our partners sitting on our backs. For the Squats, we used the same protocol as we did with the Bench presses. Starting with a light weight, we added a little bit each set so that our 5th set of 5 was an all out effort. We did not test our maximum on the Squat though.

I put everything I had into my workouts, trying to lift more weight every workout, and trying to beat everyone else. That was important, but it was only half of my plan. Now, I don’t know how I figured it out, and I guess I never really thought about what possible ways there were to get big. It just seemed natural to me that getting big and strong required only three things. First, train as hard and heavy as you can. Second, Eat as much food as you can. Third, have enough desire to make sure that you do the first two things, no matter what. It seems simple, and to tell you the truth, it is. But, most people who want size and strength don’t get it. They think that expensive supplements or fancy exercise equipment will get them where they want to go, but unless they follow the Three Principles for Bulking up, they won’t make it.

When I say eat as much as you can, not everybody understands that I am not talking about gorging yourself once in a while. I am talking about constantly eating and staying full day in and day out. I didn’t know about protein shakes [http://www.nlpbodybuilding.com/protein-powder.html], and nobody had heard of creatine [http://www.nlpbodybuilding.com/creatine.html], but there was food, and I ate as much as I could. I don’t want you to think this is for everybody, but for a teenager or young adult who wants to put on as much muscle and gain as much strength as they can, this way works.

I actually had a girlfriend during this time period, who was very helpful. While there were limits on how much I could eat at my house, she and her parents were more than happy to provide me with as much food as I wanted, whenever I wanted. They cooked me steaks, bought pizza and anything else I wanted. I don’t know if that was part of their plan to keep me around, but it worked, at least for awhile. I remember being at Burger King one night. I was eating 3 Whoppers, some fries, a shake and I don’t remember what else. Two policemen were sitting at a nearby table, and one of them asked my why I was eating so much. My reply to them was the same as it was to everyone of the many people who asked me the same question, “I gotta get big for Football.” That single-minded focus on my goal is why I reached it so quickly.

When I started the 10th grade I could not Bench press 135 pounds. At the end of the school year, I benched 235. When Football started for the next year, I benched 250 and my bodyweight was up from 160 to 190 pounds. I was also 2 inches taller at 6 feet 2. By the end of Football season, I benched 285, and I weighed 200 pounds. I was the best pass rusher on the Varsity team, I had two defensive touchdowns that season, and I was given the nickname of Drago, from Rocky 4. 15 months, more than 150 pounds added to my Bench press, and 40 pounds of muscular bodyweight. Now that is what I call Bulking up!

How To Stop Overeating: 7 Ways To Put Down Your Fork

#1. Take 10 Deep Breaths.

Breathe in and fill your chest with air, and breathe out with an even slow pace. If you’re in public, you can do this subtly and yet still give yourself time to pause and breathe. Then, resume eating if you wish, but with awareness of whether you really want more or not.

Breathing in with a large, deep breath and out with a slow, measured tempo causes you to pause for a moment to acknowledge your breathing. This pause opens space for awareness of what you’re doing rather than eating bite after bite without realizing you just finished the entire bowl. Once you’re aware, you can decide if you really want to continue or not, and why.

#2. Play a game with yourself: chew each bite 20 times.

Not only does chewing your food and counting help you focus on what you’re eating, it slows you down to extend the pleasure of the food. Why not draw out the flavor as long as possible?

#3. Drink a full glass of water between bites.

This will certainly fill you up quickly. Even if you don’t drink an entire glass, putting down your fork to take a few sips will still break the autopilot mode of fork-to-mouth.

#4. Get honest by asking «What happens right now if I stop?»

Would you feel robbed of pleasure? Angry, disappointed? Or victorious and proud? Imagine the scenario and what you would do. Then imagine how you’d feel an hour later, if you stopped before going overboard.

Just pausing for a moment to consider the outcome can build your momentum to stop. While it certainly may not be easy to stop eating when you’re in the middle of it, being conscious that you have the ability to make a choice gives you power.

#5. If you are by yourself, strip down naked and see how long you keep eating.

The awkwardness of it all can be enough to trigger your brain to stop.

#6. Keep a notepad close.

As you’re in the middle of eating or planning to eat more, write a list of at least 20 reasons why you should continue eating. This gives you perspective and awareness of what you’re doing and how you’re justifying it.

#7. Take your food and go sit somewhere where you don’t normally eat.

Maybe it’s on the floor in your living room, to a guest bedroom, to your backyard, etc. Going somewhere different keeps your attention focused on the present instead of slipping into the familiar pattern.

These tips are ways to «jolt» yourself awake to become conscious of what you’re doing so you can make a choice about whether you honestly want to keep eating or if you’re ready to stop. You can remind yourself you can always come back to it later. «Waking up» to what you’re doing and making a choice to continue or not puts you in power.

Must Known Algorithms For Every Data Scientist

Algorithms are extremely useful techniques to initiate any analytical model and every data scientist’s knowledge would be considered incomplete without the algorithms. The powerful and advanced techniques like Factor Analysis and Discriminant Analysis should be present in every data scientist’s arsenal. But for this type of advanced techniques, one must know some of the basic algorithms that are equally useful and productive. Since machine learning is one of the aspects where data science is used greatly, therefore, the knowledge of such algorithms is crucial. Some of the basic and most used algorithms that every data scientist must know are discussed below.

Hypothesis Testing

Though not an algorithm, without knowing this, a data scientist would be incomplete. No data scientist must move forward without mastering this technique. Hypothesis testing is a procedure for testing statistical results and checking if the hypothesis is true or false on the basis of statistical data. Then, depending on the hypothetical testing, it is decided whether to accept the hypothesis or simply reject it. Its importance lies in the fact that any event can be important. So, to check whether an event occurring is important or just a mere chance, hypothesis testing is carried out.

Linear Regression

Being a statistical modeling technique, it focuses on the relationship between a dependent variable and an explanatory variable by matching the observed values with the linear equation. Its main use is to depict a relationship between various variables by using scatterplots (plotting points on a graph by displaying two kinds of values). If no relationship is found, that means matching the data with the regression model doesn’t provide any useful and productive model.

Clustering Techniques

It is a type of unsupervised algorithm wherein a dataset is assembled in distinguished and distinct clusters. Since the output of the procedure is not known to the analyst, it is classified as an unsupervised learning algorithm. It means that the algorithm itself will define the result for us and we do not require to train it on any past inputs. Further, the clustering technique is divided into two types: Hierarchical and Partitional Clustering.

Naive Bayes

A simple, yet so powerful algorithmic technique for predictive modeling. This model consists of two kinds of probability to be calculated on the basis of training data. The first probability is each classes’ probability and the second one is that given each value (say ‘x’), the conditional probability is calculated for each class. After the calculations of these probabilities, predictions can be carried out for new data values using Bayes Theorem.

Naive Bayes make an assumption for each input variable to be independent, so it is sometimes also referred to as ‘naive’. Though it is a powerful assumption and not realistic for real data, it is very effectual for large scale of complex problems.

Why PPC Should Be A Part Of Your Advertising Arsenal

PPC is probably one of the most cost-effective ways of targeted advertising on the internet. Forbes magazine has reported that PPC, or Pay Per Click, accounts for 2 billion dollars a year and is expected to increase to around 8 billion dollars by 2008.

Here is a brief look at how PPC works.

PPC search engines create listings and rate them based on bids placed by the advertiser. These bids are what the advertiser is willing to pay for each click received from that search engine. Advertisers must bid against each other to get a higher ranking for their keywords and so achieve a better position in the search engine. The highest bidder for a certain keyword will be ranked as number 1 in the PPC Search Engines, followed by the second and third highest bidder and so on, up to the last advertiser to have placed a bid. Your adverts will then appear prominently on the results pages dependent upon the dollar amount bid that you have agreed to pay per click.

So how do you make money by using PPC?

Affiliate programs only pay when a sale has been made or lead delivered by clicking through to your site. Your earnings will depend on the strength of your PPC ad which determines your CTR (click through rate), and the strength of your sales page.

PPC should be in your advertising arsenal because it is the ONLY way to practically guarantee a good position in the search engine listings thus giving you more of a chance to make a sale.

PPC can be very useful for your website. You will not only get sales from those who are searching the web to find the products and services that they want, but you will also be able to build your site’s authority as a valuable resource. The visitors who have found what they wanted from your site are more than likely to come back and see what you are offering more closely. This will give you a chance of repeat custom and even more income. It is a good idea to build a list of your customers details by incorporating a form on your website for them to complete. Lists built like this give you a strong market to cater too.

If you don’t have a website and product of your own to promote, there are plenty of affiliate sites to profit from. These affiliate sites have ready made products and websites for you to promote, and you receive a percentage of the profit from every sale you make. They will even give you sales copy and other tools and resources to help you in your marketing efforts. This is an excellent idea. You need have no storage facilities and will have no fulfillment costs. All you have to do is advertise the products and any sales will be dealt with by the affiliate owner.

So all in all PPC is a must have resource in your on-line business.

World Cup Goalkeepers – Zeljko Kalac, Australia

Zeljko Kalac is an Australian goalkeeper of Croatian descent who made his international debut in 1992. Since then he has played in over 50 international games, his most celebrated stint being with AC Milan.

Known as the Spider on account of his two meter plus frame and flailing arms, Kalac started his career with Sydney United. He later moved to Leicester in Europe but it was not an eventful sojourn.

A call to Roda JC, a little later, gave Kalac the push he needed. The Dutch side reached the last 16 of the UEFA Cup in 2002, and Kalac moved to Serie A with Perugia. Luck smiled on Kalac when Perugia’s fortunes dipped, and Kalac found himself as the back up keeper to the celebrated Dida in the AC Milan goal.

An ankle injury to Dida brought Kalac into his own. Besides Champions League, Kalac got a chance to play in Coppa Italia. The preparations for World Cup 2006 saw Kalac being summoned to do national duty, as deputy to Mark Schwarzer.

Kalac may not be number one goalkeeper of the Socceroos but he certainly is one of the most experienced goalkeepers in the game. He is also the most reliable, and can be expected to keep most forwards at bay.

Schooling Your Horse Over A Liverpool

The liverpool in equestrian show jumping is now one of the most common elements found in today’s jumper courses. The liverpool is an imitation water jump usually constructed of vinyl that is used by course designers to test the horse and rider combinations on their ability to jump water. These liverpools were designed with the natural water obstacles found out in the hunt field in mind. Horses are naturally wary of any water obstacle, and liverpools are no exception. If a horse and rider are to have a successful show-jumping career they will need to conquer any fear of these type fences.

When first introducing the green horse or spooky equine to water, it is recommended to first lay the liverpool out in your ring, and work your animal around the obstacle. First walk around the liverpool, then trot, and eventually canter.

Once your horse is relatively at ease with the presence of the water jump it is time to approach the jump itself. First warm up over several other jumps your horse is already familiar with. Second, fold your liverpool in half and place it beneath a crossrail. Show your horse the new obstacle first and let him «smell» it for a moment or two. Next, you should attempt to trot the jump using your leg, a cluck, and your crop or bat. If your leg cannot coax your horse over the jump, use an encouraging cluck, if this fails, use your stick gently behind the saddle. Most of the time this approach will begin your horses liverpool jumping career, occasionally a stubborn animal will need extra encouragement from someone on the ground. Your helper can stay behind your horse at a safe distance and encourage your horse over the ground with her voice or perhaps a lunge whip.

Once your horse is trotting the half liverpool, one should try and canter over the jump. Once this is done successfully you are almost ready to spread the liverpool out to its full width. Keep jumping the water until your horse is confident. Give your horse a day or two before attempting the liverpool again. Repeat this process until your horse is very comfortable jumping the water. Remember to only jump small fences over the liverpool at first, or until you feel your horse is absolutely confident.

Bring a liverpool to your horse shows and practice over it in the schooling area, especially if a liverpool is present in your current class. Continue to rehearse the liverpool throughout your horses career, horses can be fickle, and you never know when a water obstacle can suddenly become a problem.

Oswestry Town FC

Oswestry has been a home for football for as long as anyone can remember, in fact there are no official records relating to when the team was formed but it is a common perception that Oswestry FC would have been one of the first football teams formed in the world … maybe even the first. Originally born as Oswestry United, friendly matches were played on the local cricket pitch against local teams such as Chirk, Ruabon and the Druids, all of which are from the surrounding areas of Wrexham in North Wales. Oswestry United was a founder member, along with Ruabon, Chirk and Druids of a league which covered North Wales and the Northern west of England known as "The combination".

In 1876, Oswestry became a founder member of the Football Association of Wales, subsequently entering the first ever Welsh cup the following season. Following the war, the team was renamed to Oswestry Town and they began competing in the Welsh Alliance league Oswestry Town would later move to face different competition in the Birmingham league having been crowned champions of the Welsh Alliance in 1924 and desiring new challenges which came in the face of renowned teams such as Telford United, Shrewbury Town and Kidderminster Harriers.

Spells in the Cheshire League, the Southern Premier League and the Northern Premier League would follow put over time Oswestry Town began to struggle both on the pitch and off the pitch as the finances became strained and debt mounted This resulted in the sad sale of their long time home, the Victoria Road Ground and a period where football in Oswestry was suspended, possibly for the long term. Eventually fortunes began to upturn with the use of the Park Hall site situated on the outskirts of the town. Park Hall was an army built facility that already hosted many different sports in the area including Rugby Union and horse riding.

During the clubs stagnant years the face of football had changed with the introduction of a national league of Wales. As mentioned earlier Oswestry Town had been founder members of the Welsh Football Association and so had the right to play within it's league's. Oswestry Town recommenced their football by entering the Welsh Nation League (Wrexham area) and began to clime the pyramid system of welsh football Leagues. Upon reaching the Cymru Alliance league which is one of two feeder leagues to the League of Wales. Oswestry Town won a League and Cup double at the first time of asking. However, sadly they were denied their chance of life in the top tier of Welsh football due to the Park Hall ground not meeting strict stadium requirements of the league. After much fundraising and donations the club were able to raise money to purchase floodlights which brought the ground up to the correct standard and another successful Cymru Alliance season in 1999/2000 was met with further financial difficulties which again prevented the move to the League of Wales . This time the financial difficulties were too severe for the club to overcome and Oswestry Town have now played their last match. Football in Oswestry continues, at Park Hall due to the relocation of The New Saints who were previously based in nearby Lantsantfraid.
