Cristiano Ronaldo – The Cherry on Top

Since very little, Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, started to show great talent for football, which made him relate from his youth on to professional football in Portugal, joining the Clube Desportivo Nacional, where he began his formation and development as player and where had the opportunity to stand out on his country.

With the needed abilities to play soccer well developed, Ronaldo continued advancing and in until 2001 he united to Sporting Lisboa, one of the most important teams on Portugal’s First Division, where with the support of his partners and the coaching and medical staff achieved to sharp his style and raise his game level. Thanks to the work done on his career, Cristiano Ronaldo, gets his official debut on October 2001 as a professional footballer at the Portugal’ Superliga with 17 years old. His impressive plays made him shine to convert himself in a regular player on the field for Sporting that on the same year won the league championship.

For 2003, the talent of the #7 ‘Red Devil’ was already being seen out of the borders of Portugal, an evidence of it was the great impression it cause on Manchester United at a friendly encounter for the Euro Cup. After calling the attention of Sir Alex Ferguson, he immediately started the negotiations with the Portuguese star, to include him in the British team. Ronaldo started with Manchester replacing David Beckham, who at the time transferred to Real Madrid.

On his first period with at England, Cristiano Ronaldo showed one more time his football talents guiding his team to a victory on the FA Cup. The huge progress shown by the player on the British club, made him worthy of the title for Best Young Footballer at a world level, obtaining the FIFPro 2005 and 2006. Another success on 2005 was scoring the 1000 goal for the Manchester United on the Premier League.

Besides owning a big load of personal distinctions at an international level, this Red Devil has as well several achievements at a team level that United has attain thanks to Ronaldo’s assistance; this important titles include Carling Cup, Community Shield, FA Premier League and the last UEFA Champions League edition.

As member of Portugal’s national team (with which debuted on 2003), the young man of 23 years old has also demonstrated to be an important figure for, after Euro 2004 in which Portugal ended up as runner-up. For the World Cup 2006 even though his country could not make it further the semifinals, remaining on the fourth place, the performance of the Portuguese was supreme.

The speed, ability, commitment and skills in Ronaldo are characteristics that many players and clubs whish to have, the best example right now is Real Madrid that expects to incorporate him on their lines. The Spaniards was not able to signed him due to the renovation of the succulent contract between the Red Devils and the star, that decided to stay with the squad that had been giving him so many triumphs and saw him grow in his little but successful career.

All the effort made by Ronaldo along this year, recently made him laudable of the Ballon d’Or 2008, prize turns him into the Best Footballer of the Year and places him above other great players, such as Lionel Messi, Fernando Torres and even Kaká, who won the trophy last year.

The Night Hawk, the World’s First Stealth Bomber

When I visited the USA in 1998 as part of the air staff team, we were quartered at one of the USAF bases. At one end (that area was kept off bounds) we could see dark bat shaped planes. They were part of the secret arsenal of the USAF and from my knowledge; I knew that this was the famous stealth fighter. It was given the number as F-115 and called Night Hawk. The plane at that time was the most advanced in the world and nobody had anything like it.

Technology was Russian

The Night Hawk cost 111 million dollars apiece and was discontinued in the USAF after 25 years and replaced with the F-22 or Raptor. Never the less the F-117 was something unique and incorporated the stealth technology. This technology was published in a research paper presented in 1964 by a Russian scientist named Pykr. The Russians ignored this paper but the engineers at Lockheed studied the paper in detail. In effect, the Prof has stated that a plane could be made that could allow the radar waves to bounce off the plane and thus render the aircraft invisible to detection by radar. it could only be sighted visually.

It meant making a plane with an unconventional design. it had to have angles of construction, that were of a particular slant so that the radar waves could bounce off. The plane thus had the look of a bat and was christened the Night Hawk. The Night Hawk first flew in 1981 and a few years later was inducted into the USAF. The Night Hawk was a revolutionary design and for 5 years the Americans kept it secret before the world came to know of this unique plane. The Russians rued the development of the F-117 and wondered how they had missed the bus.

Operational use

The Night Hawk was put into operational use and used extensively in the air bombardment of Iraq, during the 1992 US-Iraq war. The plane despite a slow speed of some 660km/hr could not be detected. It had limited range of about 1000 km and thus for a target, it needed mid-air refueling. It carried no defensive armaments relying on its ability to attack a target undetected. It carried 2 x 1000 laser guided bombs, that could penetrate even 12ft of concrete and was thus a force multiplier. The Russians were however hard at work to perfect their own stealth fighter and the US the need of another plane was felt. Research started and this led to the led to the Raptor, which had a longer range and flew at 3 times the speed of the Night Hawk. Once the Raptor was ready for combat duty, the F-117 was phased out, but it served the US interests for 25 years. During this period only one Night Hawk was lost in combat over Serbia when a Russian missile was able to hit it. The pilot was rescued in a dramatic rescue mission, but the plane crashed. Russian engineers as well as Chinese salvaged parts of the plane and took it to Moscow and China in an effort to understand the stealth technology. Parts of the plane can see be seen in the Museum at Belgrade.

Last word

The F-115 remained the only stealth fighter in the world during the days of the cold war and even after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the plane was the mainstay of US offensive action. It was used extensively in Afghanistan when the USA mounted an invasion and no plane was lost despite missiles

Conquer Stress and Anxiety Naturally With This Safe and Effective Method

Rhodiola Rosea is the latest natural remedy to join the arsenal

of natural anxiety and stress reducers.

Rhodiola Rosea, also known as Golden Root, is a native plant of

arctic Siberia. For centuries it has been used by eastern

European and Asian cultures for physical endurance, work

productivity, longevity, resistance to high altitude sickness,

and to treat fatigue, depression, anemia, impotence,

gastrointestinal ailments, infections, and nervous system

disorders.

The first recorded medicinal applications of rodia riza (renamed

Rhodiola Rosea) was made by the Greek physician, Dioscorides, in

77 C.E. in ‘De Materia Medica’. Rhodiola Rosea has been included

in official Russian medicine since 1969.

Despite its long history, the Western world has only recently

become aware of the health benefits of Rhodiola Rosea. It has

come to the attention of many natural health practitioners

because of studies which tested its affects on combating anxiety

and stress.

Rhodiola Rosea is considered an adaptogen. This means it has an

overall stabilizing effect on the body without disrupting other

functions. Its ability to normalize hormones may be effective for

treating depression and anxiety.

Studies of Rhodiola Rosea show that it stimulates

neurotransmitters and enhances their effects on the brain. This

includes the ability for the brain to process serotonin which

helps the body to adapt to stress.

Since adaptogens improve the body’s overall ability to handle

stress, it has been studied to identify it’s effects on

biological, chemical and physical stress.

A study was performed to test the effects of Rhodiola Rosea when

stress is caused by intense mental work (such as final exams).

Such tests concluded that using Rhodiola Rosea improved the

amount and quality of work, increasing mental clarity and

reducing the effects of fatigue.

The effects of Rhodiola Rosea have also been tested on stress and

anxiety from both physical and emotional sources. A report by the

American Botanical Council states that «Most users find that it

improves their mood, energy level, and mental clarity.» They also

report on a study that indicated Rhodiola Rosea could increase

stress tolerance while at the same time protecting the brain and

heart from the physical affects of stress.

This report included details of studies which highlight the

overall health benefits of Rhodiola Rosea.

The generally recommended dose is 200-600mg/day. The active

properties should be a minimum 0.8 percent salidroside and 3

percent rosavin.

It is important for consumers to know that Rhodiola may be sold

using other species that do not share the properties of Rhodiola

Rosea, or at ineffective strengths for treatment. Anyone with

depression or anxiety should also check with a health

professional when treating these symptoms.

Paul McCartney – The Beatles – A Biography

James Paul McCartney was born on June 18, 1942 in Liverpool. He was the first son of Mary and James McCartney. His brother, Peter Michael McCartney, was born eighteen months later. Paul’s mother was a midwife, who died from breast cancer in 1955 when Paul was just 14, this troubled Paul deeply. Paul’s father was a cotton salesman during the day for A. Hannay Co., and a jazz musician with Jim Mac’s Jazz Band at night. Paul did very well in school. He passed his 11-Plus examination in 1957 and entered the Liverpool Institute, a very popular high school. There, he met a younger student by the name of George Harrison whom Paul later brought with him into John’s group, The Quarrymen. As a child, Paul showed no particular interest in music. Both he and his brother were sent to piano lessons, but these didn’t last long. Then he was given a trumpet by an uncle, and he began to teach himself. His musical talent probably came from his father. Of all The Beatles, Paul’s family was the only one with any musical background or interest. At the Liverpool Institute, Paul became popular. His dealings with young girls, however, had little effect on his grades. He was a top student, but he soon found that school was interfering with his social life. Like John and the others, Paul was influenced by early rock songs. Still, it was Elvis that formed the greatest impression on him. Paul first met John through a mutual friend, Ivan Vaughan. Vaughan invited Paul to see The Quarrymen play at the Wooton Parish. c The Quarrymen, and Paul accepted. Paul’s first public performance with The Quarrymen was at a dance at the Conservative Club in Broadway. Paul was supposed to play a solo that night, but for some reason, he never did. What he did do after the dance was play John some songs that he had written himself. John was impressed and later tried to write songs of his own. Neither wrote anything of much value, but the two began collaborating, each egging the other on to better works. From that day until the end of The Beatles, they never stopped, and together they became «Lennon & McCartney,» one of the most renowned song writing duos of the twentieth century. Once they had become established songwriters, Paul and John would often write independently of one another. John’s songs were more raw rock ‘n’ roll, while Paul’s tended to be more romantic. Songs like «Yesterday,» «Michelle,» and «Lovely Rita» are typical McCartney songs. An early agreement between Paul and John assured that all Beatle songs that either wrote would bear the trademark of «Lennon & McCartney.» Paul met Jane Asher at a pop concert at Albert Hall. She was then seventeen. The Radio Times asked her to go along to the concert to give her impressions of The Beatles. After the concert, she was invited back to their hotel for a drink. That night Paul and Jane spent the evening together. «I realized she was the girl for me,» Paul once said. Jane, however, summed up her impression of the boys by exclaiming, «They couldn’t believe I was a virgin. » Paul wanted Jane to give up acting to be with him constantly. She refused. This led to a number of arguments, but Paul was still attracted to her. It was for Jane Asher that he wrote «I’m Looking Through You» and «And I Love Her.» Marriage seemed inevitable, and on Christmas Day, 1967, Paul asked Jane to be his wife. She accepted (Bio..)(Paul Mc…)

In 1969 rumors started to spread that Paul was dead. Rumors of the death were exaggerated. No one knows for sure where the «Paul is Dead» rumor began. Some rumors were spread that Paul had been dead for three years and that he had been replaced by a look a like. Beatles fans everywhere looked for clues that were left intentionally in lyrics, record covers and pictures that would reveal the truth about the hoax.

The idea that Paul McCartney was dead for three years surfaced during the release of Abbey Road in September of 1969. The first indications of the hoax were printed in two Midwestern College newspapers (Iowa’s Drake University Times-Delphic and Northern Illinois University’s Northern Star). Russel Gibb, a Detroit radio jock for WKNR FM read about the story in the college newspaper articles and invented new «clues» for listeners. Listeners called the radio station and claimed to be able to hear secret messages by playing Revolution #9 and other songs backwards. A walrus is a Greek symbol for death. In the song Glass Onion, John Lennon sings, «well here’s another clues for you all, the walrus is Paul,» which connected Paul to his «death».

According to one myth. Paul left the recording studio in anger, following a fight with the rest of the group. Paul stormed out of the studio, jumped into his car and sped off (I Buried P…). All of the clues point to a car accident that reportedly happened prior to Paul leaving the studio in anger. On November 10, 1966 a British newspaper reported that on Wednesday morning at five o’clock someone was involved in a car accident, according to the newspaper the accident was so bad that the body could not be identified in any way. In A Day In The Life, John Lennon sings, «he blew his mind out in a car, he didn’t notice that the light had changed, a crowd of people stood and stared, they’d seen his face before, nobody was really sure if he was from the house of god (in the song god sounds like Paul)(I Buried P…)

Many visual clues were on the Abbey Road LP. The media began reporting the joke as a fact as soon as it was released. The rumors began to grow larger. In October of 1969 McCartney himself made a public appearance in which he stated the breaking up of The Beatles. In a 1970 Rolling Stone interview with John Lennon, Lennon was asked if any of the hidden clues were supposed to have any meaning. Lennon replied, «No. That was bull. The whole thing was made up.»

The Beatles enjoyed attention. They were jokers; maybe they were just having a little fun with their fans. Some people today still believe that Paul is dead because of the many convincing clues. No evidence shows that any of the members were behind the hoax. No one can prove that it did or didn’t happen. The fact of the matter is that Paul is alive today. He is currently married to an ex-model. He is touring the concert world. And he is still a Living legend.

Why Brazil Can’t Win FIFA World Cup 2006

Before it even arrived on German soil Brazilian team of 2006 is touted as one of the best ever. It has the world best player in it, world cup most prolific scorer, two of the most promising and improved midfield players in Kaka and Robinho. Someone like Juninuo sitting out on bench and couldn’t make a place for himself in starting 11 though he is the most prolific dead ball player in the game now.

Three matches into the tournament the shine is going off. Ronaldinho has huffed and puffed in most of the games so far without any real intent or threat to opposition goal. His only major contribution is the pass to Gilberto to score the third goal against Japan.

Ronaldo is the shadow of the man he once was, though he has scored two goals against Japan I don’t think in the coming matches he will be allowed such luxurious time and space to find the back of the net.

Kaka started brilliantly against Croatia with that peach of strike from outside the 18 yard box but the in the next two matches against Australia and Japan he has to satisfy with half chances strike from outside the box rather than being on the end of a flowing move.

Adriano has scored one but I’m not sure he fits well into this Brazilian system of play, he is more of a European striker than a Brazilian.

Midfield

In the 4-2-2-2 system the two defensive midfielders are stars of the show for Brazil so far in this world cup. Emerson and ZeRoberto has played magnificently breaking down opponents attack, doing the donkey work, winning tackles and allowing the star forward line to operate.

Defense line

The defense line is old with Cafu and Roberto Carlos well into their 30’s and far beyond their glory days. The center back partnership also seems fragile as we have seen over years that Lucio is susceptible of making mistakes.

What is in store for Brazilian team for future?

As we have already seen that Australia and Croatia created a lot of clear cut chances and Japan time and time again able to slip behind the Center backs and Full backs to create opening. The future of Brazilian team seems bleak in this world cup.

If we have a look at the draw, Brazil will face Ghana in the round of 16 and most probably Spain in Quarter finals. Beyond Quarterfinal for this team on present form seem improbable even though I’m not a great fan of Spanish team.

Round of 16 encounter against Ghana

I believe Ghana will be a stern test for the Brazilian team as the Ghanaian team plays at some real tempo and very hard in their tackles. The only thing which counts against them is their experience at the biggest stage and absence of Essien, who is suspended for the match. According to me it will be nail bitter but I guess in the end Brazil will reach into the Quarter finals due to their technical supremacy over the African team.

Quarter Final

This is the year I believe Spain will reach in last four since Brazil 1950. This Spanish team seems a good unit, a mix of youth and experience. Spain will provide massive test to Brazil and to my mind it will mighty hard for Brazil to go beyond Quarter finals.

First and foremost Spain has the players to counter Brazilian treats. Defense lineup headed by Pujol from Barcelona plays day in day out with Ronaldinho and company. Secondly as Brazil till now has only scored goals through some exclusive shots from distance this window will be shutdown by the Spanish as they have the best shot stopper goal keeper in Cassillas. Plus he knows Ronaldo inside out with his time in Real Madrid.

Lack of aerial threat also solves the problem Spanish defense as they themselves are not the greatest in that area.

Spain is a good passing side and possession of the ball with Brazilian players will be less compared to what they had against lesser opponents like Croatia, Australia and Japan. So the opportunities created will be far lesser and greater the pressure on strikers to score goals. Trust you me Ronaldo is not scoring against this Spanish defense and Carlos Perreira is not keeping him on bench either so it will be hard a grind in the park for the Brazilians.

In Torres and David Villa Spain has two hitman who can exploit the space behind aging Cafu and Roberto Carlos. With Febregac and Alonso in the middle ZeRoberto and Emerson will have their handful as we already saw in Arsenal’s match against Juventus in the Champions League earlier this year.

Last but not the least, I don’t discount these things as we saw in Euro 2004, it was a Greece’s year with Athens Olympics. So far it seems like a Spanish year, we have Montoya dominating Formula One, Nadal dominating the tennis circuit and above all Barcelona and Seville are the current holders of Champions League and UEFA Cup.

Arsenal’s Realistic Chances This Season (2010/2011)

I am happy about the current form of my gunners. But I hope they just take a bit of precaution at the moment. We have not really lost since the beginning of the new year and there are indications that we have just an opportunity to get our hands on the first major trophy since the last five years. But Arsene Wenger’s hope of running for the four possible titles is not just so real.

Considering that the boys are just coming of age and there are likely to be injuries and fatigue it is very good that he show concerns about this. Playing the boys three times a week would wear them off. Just recently Samir Nasri who happens to be the most promising this season is suffering from hamstring injuries. Even if he believes that this is the best gunners in so many years, caution has to be taken.

Arsenal remain in the Champions League where there is little hope of any success since they will be playing the best team in Europe, I will not try to be so optimistic about our chances like we had it during the 2007/08 season where we beat the best then, that is, AC Milan. We knew the consequence of winning that game. We lost our lead in the premiership and we were knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United before that remarkable win.

We went ahead and lost in the quarter-final to Liverpool who know how to gamble with matches sacrificing the premiership trophy for the Champions league. Our realistic chances this season are the Carling Cup and the Premiership. As we trail behind Man. Utd by five (5) points, it will do us good if we just play Barcelona with the mind that we have lost (though we can give them a good fight), and hope that in the home and away games between Man. Utd and Chelsea they (Man.Utd) can drop six points and hopefully we win our return leg against them.

I still know that Alex Ferguson will not like to repeat the same mistake as last season. We better play with serious caution as there are likely to be more injuries and little recovery time. We still have 14 games as at the time of writing this report and our attack force is about the best in the premiership and we can believe that our boys will always be used to winning and the winning spirit will continue to the end of the season. I believe Arsene as a great and experience coach will have some of his advisers telling him the same or similar news!

Which of Them Will Qualify For The Last 4?

The draws of the quarter-finals have been made and soccer fans which are current know the fixtures. It is Chelsea up against Man U, Real Madrid against Tottenham, Barcelona against Shaktar and Inter taking on Schalke. These are the pairings of the teams that made it up to the last Eight.

Looking at the draws made, the two toughest of them analyzing on paper is the encounters between Chelsea and Man U and the one between Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur. At first glance, these 2 matches appear to be the star games of the quarter-final stage of these season of the UEFA Champion’s League. This is because of the reputation of these four teams in question. Games between Man U and Chelsea have always been known to be very tough encounters. One must not fail to mention that both sides are English clubs and encounters between clubs of the same country on the continental or global scene such as the UEFA Champions League have been known to be very difficult. This is either of the 2 clubs will want to prove to their domestic fans back at home that they are a world class soccer playing club. Again Chelsea and Man U have been known to be bitter rivals of each other both on the local and the international scene.

The other interesting one is between Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur. Why this is a tough one is because of the quality of managers and players both teams have. Jose Muorinho being the manager of Real Madrid is a very good and intelligent soccer tactician who knows how to read the game. The same can also be said of the manager of Tottenham, Harry Redknapp who has also proved his worth at this competition. To the credit of Harry Redknapp, he has led his team to the quarter-finals at the very first time they are participating in the UEFA Champion’s League. Also the team has some good players. We must not forget that Tottenham led their group to reach the second round before eliminating another soccer giant AC Millan before reaching this stage.

The other 2 fixtures look easier than the two matches previously discussed but Barcelona must not underrate Shaktar and Inter not despise Schalke. No team that has reached this stage of the competition should be considered a pushover. Schalke produced a very big upset when they defeated Valencia at home to reach this stage. For Inter they really struggled to reach this stage. Again Shaktar has proven to be a very hard nut to crack. Therefore Barcelona and Inter cannot afford to underrate their opponents because if they do an upset is imminent.
