Simple Avocado Pasta Recipe

Avocados are a highly nutritious fruit, that can be incredibly versatile when it comes to their culinary uses.

This article is going to provide you with a simple avocado pasta recipe, that you can use as either the main course in a meal, or as a snack. I had previously read about this recipe online, and when deciding to try it out myself I had no lemon so used lime instead. The results were pretty good so this is now something that I eat with real regularity. So just to point out, you can change the lime juice for lemon if you wish.

I am also going to point out some interesting avocado benefits for you, in order to try and encourage you to make this highly nutritious fruit a regular fixture in your diet.

Ready, steady, cook!

Utensils you are going to need

First raid the kitchen for the utensils you will need to make this simple avocado pasta recipe.

* Chopping board

* Sharp knife

* Medium sized saucepan

* Blender

* Colander

* Large bowl

* Wooden spoon

Ingredients for your avocado pasta

I am now going to provide you with a list of ingredients that you will need to gather together in order to make this easy avocado pasta recipe:

* A medium sized avocado with the stone removed

* 2 cloves of garlic

* 1/2 a teaspoon of salt

* 1/5 a cup of basil

* 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

* 6 oz of pasta, I like swirls but spaghetti works

* 1/2 a teaspoon of black pepper

* 1/2 a medium sized lime, juiced

The garlic is optional, obviously this is something that can be a deal breaker when it comes to whether or not you go for a food, if you are not a big fan of garlic then leave it out, or use it minimally.

Let’s get cooking

Fill your medium sized saucepan between 1/3 and 1/2 full with water and put on the hob to boil. When brought to the boil, put in your pasta, taking the heat down to a moderate level. It should be cooked in approximately 8 minutes, but try a swirl or two approaching that time.

While the pasta is cooking, you can start to make the sauce.

Open up your blender and put in the garlic, the extra virgin olive oil, and the lime juice. Blend until the mixture becomes smooth, and then add the avocado (which you will have already chopped into smaller pieces), the salt and also the basil. Blend again until the contents are like a cream.

Once the pasta has boiled to your liking, remove it from the hob and drain using the colander. Once it has drained, put the pasta in a large bowl and pur the sauce from the blender on top. Mix with the wooden spoon, and/or toss, until the sauce and pasta have completely blended together.

Sprinkle in the black pepper and serve as soon as possible. This is best eaten hot or warm, and I do not suggest re-heating.

Now is that a simple avocado pasta recipe or what?

Benefits of avocado

There are many benefits that can be obtained by including the avocado fruit in your diet, none more so than the nutritional values that it supplies. There may be slightly more avocado calories than there are in other popular fruits, but this difference should by no means put you off eating them. Below I have listed just a couple of avocado benefits that you may find interesting:

* The avocado is a rich source of vitamin B5, or pantothenic acid as it is otherwise known, just 3.5 oz of raw avocado can provide 28% of all the vitamin B5 you need in a day.

* The avocado is also rich in vitamins B6, B9 ( folate) and K, with a 3.5 oz serving of raw avocado providing you with 20% of the total dailr requirement of each of these.
