“THE LAST BASTION” How Darwin Nunez Can Help Liverpool Conquer South America | The Bottom Line

As Liverpool confirm the signing of Uruguayan forward Darwin Nunez from Benfica for a potentially club-record £85m, The Bottom Line delves deeper into the deal.

Guy Clarke joins the ECHO’s Business of Football writer Dave Powell to look into the finer detail of the transfer which includes the 22-year-old putting pen-to-paper on a six-year deal.

Jurgen Klopp’s role and the Reds wage structure are both analysed as well as the impact the deal could have on Liverpool’s presence in the South American market following closely on from the arrival of Luis Diaz in January.

  1. Good point Dave re Salah being a Muslim icon and commercial wordlwide appeal. Mane is also a devout Muslim as is Ibrahima Konate (and Keita).

  2. Liverpool need a recruiting team that knows every decent player in the whole world. All credit to benfica because they seem to have a habit of picking up underpriced or rather undervalued players and that will be down to their scouting system.

  3. To get a more wider fan base we need to start beating the big teams regularly. Young fans always pick up on the most successful teams. And until we get over the problems of park the bus teams this will be difficult. To do that we need more goals from our midfield which means more of them need to get in the box more often.

  4. The ideal front line would be
    Mane, Nunez & Salah
We can use Diaz, Jota, Firminho as substitutes and in cup competitions so that way the front line is always refreshed and hungry to go.

I really hope Darwin Nunez doesn’t fall out with Mo Salah as Salah can be really greedy in front of goal and sometimes doesn’t square the pass whenever his team mates are in a much better position to score than him.
The fall out has already happened with Mane I just hope it doesn’t happen with Darwin Nunez because he is a South American street fighter and won’t tolerate it.
